We stopped by this place yesterday, and the impressions were the most pleasant! We came primarily out of curiosity about their famous lamplighter - it was really interesting and added a special atmosphere to the evening. The table was booked in advance, which turned out to be very useful, the place seems to be popular. The place itself is very cozy, the atmosphere is conducive to a pleasant pastime. Special thanks to our waiter, Egor! He is a very polite, attentive and simply pleasant young man. He helped us navigate the menu and make an excellent choice. We were warned about the possible waiting time, so there were no unpleasant surprises – everything went smoothly. The food turned out to be really delicious, and I was pleased with the presentation and the dishes themselves. And a lavender cocktail is just a godsend, a very unusual and chic drink! In general, we were very satisfied.

It was on Christmas Day. A wonderful fabulous place. We sat comfortably on the sofa by the window and enjoyed the simple surroundings and the views from the panoramic window onto the pedestrian street. For those who were hanging out in front of the TV, broadcasting relaxing music in the form of a New Year's cafe, you are welcome here. Here you can also hang out, contemplating the atmosphere of the New Year and Christmas spirit. The cuisine is delicious, the quality service highlights the atmosphere. The bonus (we didn't know about it) is the ritual of lighting a lantern by a Brest Lamplighter. As he walks to the lanterns on the street, he comes in here, lighting an interior but real street lamp. This is a special delight. In general, I want to come back here.

We were in Brest in September 2025 and visited this institution. We ordered machanka in a frying pan, French fries, pizza and drinks. Machanka does not match the photo, the mashed potatoes are tasteless and the portion surprised us and the men at the next table (it is very small for an adult), the pizza is of medium quality, the French fries are raw and not salty.The milk cocktail is very tasty and at the next table a large company praised the set of tinctures very much.The atmosphere is calm, the waitress girls are very friendly!Food-; atmosphere+; service+; kitchen-; waiting time+.

I specially reserved a table for the lighting of the lanterns. They looked at the street scenes from the glazed veranda, the photos are the same but without the crowd. Then the Lamplighter enters the cafe itself and lights a lantern inside. According to reviews, those who sit at tables can take pictures with him. And then there was trouble, along with the Lamplighter, the most brazen tourists came in, surrounded him and began to interfere. I barely made it through, asked for a photo. Viktor Petrovich is a very delicate man! He clarified what we were eating here and agreed to the photo. BUT tourists also got into the frame. I'm not publishing this photo, but the administration should take this into account. What's the point of booking if anyone can come in like that? I'm not thrilled about the food either, because before ordering, the waiter didn't warn about the missing items on the menu. In the end, I chose fish and sweets, and there was none of it. Since the others had already placed an order, I had to make a new choice in a minute. Score 4 with a big minus.

Nice atmosphere – soft music (very well-chosen soundtrack) promotes calm conversations, we sat on the verandahs both times – I really liked it. Every evening, the legendary Brest lamplighter comes in and lights a lantern in the hall. Excellent cuisine – both times we ate too much to the point of hiccups, as it was impossible not to finish, everything was very tasty – both bruschetta, jelly, and draniki in various forms, and dumplings. Modest at first glance, but a very high-quality selection of drinks, including original tinctures and interesting interpretations of classics (I really liked the limoncello spritz), as well as excellent beer. In honor of the birthday we decided to celebrate there, we were given a dessert as a gift and a discount. We will definitely come again. I highly recommend this place.

Unfortunately, there were no draniki, instead they ordered dumplings with potatoes: delicious, satisfying, the dumplings are very large! Delicious ginger tea, it warms up. Good cocoa. Excellent tinctures: we ordered a set, most of all we liked tomato with pepper and cherry. When it got cold (we were sitting in the courtyard), they brought blankets at our request. In general, everything is fine! The only "but" that caused the score to be lowered was the waiting time. The dumplings were molded for at least 45 minutes, which is still a long time. In principle, the waiters are not too fast (or did we get such a shift?). In general, it's great about food and drinks, it's a pity that it's slow.

Unfortunately, the kitchen was very disappointing ( There are no Indian dishes on the menu anymore, but there are Belarusian ones. I ordered magicians with meat. I waited for 20 minutes. The consistency of the dish is such that it simply "smears" on the plate when you cut it, it is impossible to cut it off. It tastes like half-baked, salted potatoes grated on a grater. Absolutely tasteless. My husband took a frying pan with fried potatoes with bacon rinds and was also dissatisfied. Everything is very greasy, black bread is the usual kind served in canteens, pork rinds have not been skinned.

The Belarusian dish in the pot (I don't remember the name, unfortunately) in the photo was bigger than it actually turned out to be, but it was delicious anyway. The next day, we came for a potted flower dessert, it was very similar to tiramisu, but it wasn't completely finished, the syrup had a different impregnation. The first one is prettier, but visitors in outerwear are constantly walking past you, since the wardrobe is organized in the center of the cafe, and not at the entrance. I'll choose another place next time.

We were at the gastrofest on 02/14/2026. They brought a set of onion soup, salad, steak with vegetables, croissant. I have some questions about the steak. Not only was it difficult to cut, it was impossible to chew at all. They informed the official about this, said it was good and took the dish away. We waited for 30 minutes, then found out if there would be a replacement for the dish, to which we received the answer that they could not do anything about it, because many people complain about such meat today. Couldn't they have informed you about this in advance? The dish is a marriage, it is not possible to eat it. I asked what alternatives there might be, and they said they would give me a 10% discount... A good set of lettuce, onion soup and croissant for 41 rubles. Not a foot in there anymore.

On May 30, 2025, the whole family visited the Lantern cafe. We ordered the Gastrofest sets in advance and were absolutely delighted with the service! The female waiters showed sincere sensitivity and attention. The staff also clarified by phone where it would be more convenient for us on the summer veranda or inside the establishment. When serving each dish from the set, we were given a detailed description — it was very informative (because the cafe offers Indian cuisine) and added atmosphere. I was especially pleased with the compliment from the institution for my daughter's Birthday! I would like to note that you need to show your passport to confirm the event, and I consider this absolutely correct, as it allows the cafe to avoid unscrupulous visitors trying to fraudulently receive a bonus. The Gastrofest set itself was impressive in size (1,450 g)! Everything that we could not eat on the spot, at our request, was carefully packed with us. We came to dinner, and so far this dish has not appeared on the stop list? Shame on the one who missed such a blank and allowed it to be sampled by a guest! (And of course, I demanded that this dish be deducted from the receipt, to which the waiter agreed). - draniki, honestly, are the most ordinary. Nothing special - the teas are sour, not brought to taste. In general, we will not return to this institution anymore and we do not advise others! And you can see the lamplighter in other places too!
