Monument to the bard, poet, musician and artist Evert Taube (1890-1976) on the shore of Riddarfjarden Bay of Lake Melaren. The terrace along the bay is also named Toba. This is not accidental, since, in addition to songs, Tob was known for his city protection activities. In the 1950s, Tob led the movement to save Riddarfjarden Bay, 8% of which city officials were going to fill with construction debris generated during the renovation of the Norrmalm area (this was supposed to reduce the cost of garbage disposal and create new areas for development). As a result of the activity of Tob, which was very popular, the official responsible for this project was dismissed. Toba's other achievement in Stockholm was the rescue of the historic Southern Theater building in the Södermalm district, which was about to be demolished for the construction of a new business center. Grateful citizens erected a monument to Tob with his back to Stockholm City Hall, opposite the bay he saved. Another monument to Tobu, simpler and more modest, is located on Yarntoriet Square in Gamla Stan district.
