An incredibly interesting zoological museum, we came to Samarkand from Tashkent specifically to see it. There are many beautiful and rare exhibits. Many thanks to the head of the museum for the fascinating and informative tour! A professional in his field! We learned a lot about taxidermy, the history of this museum and many of its exhibits! I highly recommend you to visit!

We went to the greenhouse (on the university grounds) and an employee on the street advised us to go to this museum, which we did. We didn't regret it, there were two of us and Bahodir (I'm sorry if it's not right) - he runs the museum, had a wonderful tour! Kindly and with all the love for his exhibits, he took us through the museum and immersed us in history. He made some stuffed animals himself! be sure to come in, and the university grounds are... very beautiful!

I came to see the famous greenhouse, and ended up in, as it turned out, an equally famous zoological museum. The manager was instantly captivated by the story of ancient and modern animals. I found out who the taxidermists and endemics are, that even the largest emperor penguins are small, that there are birds whose males immure their females in a hollow while incubating eggs and feeding their chicks. Very informative, wonderful exhibits. I recommend it!

Zoological Museum at the University of Samarkand. We were given a wonderful tour by an employee of Bahadur University, through whose efforts the museum is in perfect condition. Many of the exhibits were created by him, he is a professional taxidermist. Others were brought from St. Petersburg and Moscow back in the early 20th century.

This is not just an ordinary museum, but a unique scientific and educational space with a huge collection of animals and insects, many of which are no longer found in nature or are rare. The exhibition features skeletons, stuffed animals, and collections of a wide variety of animals, from birds and mammals to fish and exotic insects. It is especially impressive that some of the exhibits are included in the Red Book of Uzbekistan and the IUCN.

I'm absolutely thrilled!! This is a great museum on the university grounds. A large and interesting exposition. The tours are conducted by the head of the museum himself. The tour turned out to be very exciting. So much so that I didn't take any photos. We learned not only about the exhibits, but also talked about the fauna of the country and the Red book animals. This is one of the places that exceeded my expectations. I highly recommend everyone to visit!!

Fish and reptiles in formalin, bones, a huge number of stuffed birds and animals of local and exotic species. A unique stuffed Turanian tiger and other amazing specimens. We looked into this museum and were extremely satisfied. We started the inspection ourselves, then cute young girls came out, one of whom works there - a student of the evening department of the 1st year. She doesn't speak Russian or English, we don't speak Uzbek. We communicated in sign language, commonly used terms like reptile and online translator. That was the desire to tell us about the exhibits! Then the head of the department came to us, who speaks Russian completely fluently. Soviet education is felt. There are many exhibits, they are replenished in various ways (circus, zoo, private serpentarium, dying found animals). Everything is organized. There are other manuals for students, without cards and labels. In general, students are very lucky to have so many practical manuals. The jewel of the collection is a part of the skull of an elephant, which lived during the reign of Tamerlane. It is definitely worth visiting the museum and appreciating the work of the people involved in it, their contribution to its creation and development.

One of the best and most soulful museums I've been to. The museum at the University is not so easy to find. From the entrance to the university, you need to go around the building from the right and enter the courtyard, then turn left. If you don't find it, don't hesitate to ask the people in the yard. There are many exhibits in the museum, and the local fauna is very well represented. There are unique specimens - an extinct type of tiger, a magpie from France or a local Samarkand owl. Stuffed small bird species are made at the highest level. But the main thing is that the tour is conducted by a dedicated professional and expert in his field. University employee and taxidermist. He talks with passion, answers questions professionally, and it's obvious that no one understands this topic better than him. He prepared some of the exhibits himself or participated in their manufacture or delivery. It was very informative and exciting. It's a pity that they didn't charge us any money. I really wanted to help these enthusiastic people who are doing such an important job of preserving the knowledge and heritage of the earth's fauna. I sincerely recommend this museum, compared to the others in Samarkand, this one is just a pearl.

It's a very nice and cozy museum, despite the fact that it's "old Soviet". Scarecrows will leave few people indifferent, I recommend visiting the fans of "crazy taxidermy". A zoologist led us on a guided tour, telling us with interest about the difficult fate of the exhibits. The collection contains the skull of an elephant that Temur brought from India on one of his hikes - perhaps this is the skull of an elephant that Temur personally saw.
