Probably the main operating spiritual complex of Muslims in Bukhara. The facades and interiors of the buildings are surprisingly well preserved. Poy-Kalyan is the central architectural complex of Bukhara. Translated, it means “the foot of the great” and includes three buildings of the XII-XVI centuries: the Kalyan Mosque, the Kalyan minaret and the Miri Arab Madrasah. Amazing medieval buildings can be explored for half a day. The guides will tell you that at one time the Kalyan minaret was an observation post, then a place of public execution. Now both the minaret and the mosque and the madrasah are in operation.

It's a very picturesque place! Thanks to the restorers for their excellent work in restoring this beauty. Be sure to visit here in the evening. Enter the mosque grounds. Entrance to it is for a nominal fee, do not regret it - it is very beautiful!

This is the heart of the old city of Bukhara, the grandeur of architecture, the spirit of the Middle Ages. Current ones are mandatory for visiting and careful study. The centuries-old history, the most beautiful architecture, especially in the evening.

The atmosphere of eternity. The ensemble makes a particularly strong impression at sunset. Be sure to wait for the evening lighting — a magical sight. Well, if you remember about the numbers: the Kalyan minaret was built in 1127 — well done to the residents of Bukhara for preserving it.

Poi Kalon architectural ensemble is certainly the main attraction of Bukhara. The ensemble includes the Kalon Minaret, the Kalon Mosque and the Mir Arab Madrasah, built in the 12th-16th centuries, which have survived to this day almost unchanged. The architectural ensemble of Poi Kalon is magnificent and no tourist will pass by during their Bukhara walks. PS. Wikipedia (at least in its Russian-language version) says that "Poi Kalon is located on the Registan parade Square." That's not so. Bukhara Registan Square is located at the western and southern walls of the Ark Citadel. And the square near the western wall of the Poi Kalon Architectural Ensemble is called the Persian One...

It's very beautiful, there's a backlight in the evening, it's a pity you can't go upstairs.. It's great that the madrasah is being partially restored. We lived a stone's throw from Kalon, walk along the mahalla and here's the center for you!!!

One of the historical centers of Bukhara is very beautiful. The strict proportions of Asian architecture are admirable. And thanks to the clever lighting, the ensemble becomes even more beautiful in the dark!

It's a very beautiful ensemble, especially with evening lighting. At the back, in the courtyard, there is an interesting cafe on the second floor and souvenir shops on the first and second floors in the old premises.

A very interesting square, which houses several architecturally significant structures at once - a huge minaret, the only working madrasa in Bukhara, and also an equally huge and beautiful mosque. This is a place that is difficult to describe in words, it must be seen. And even after walking in the center, watching other madrassas, this square evokes emotions.

An impressive architectural ensemble, especially considering that for many years it was all destroyed (including not without human involvement), and was restored from the ruins. Restorers are heroes.

After visiting Bukhara, I was truly fascinated by the Poi Kalyan ensemble - it is one of the most impressive places I have seen in my life. Located in the heart of the ancient city, this complex literally takes you back to the Middle Ages. The ensemble consists of three majestic buildings: the Kalyan Minaret, the Kalyan Mosque and the Mir-i-Arab Madrasah. The main attraction for me was the Kalyan minaret — its height is about 47 meters, and it is built so harmoniously that it seems as if it has been standing for centuries (but in fact — almost a thousand years!). It is said that even Genghis Khan admired this minaret and did not destroy it when taking the city. The Kalyan Mosque struck with its size and interior decoration. The spacious courtyard, ceramic-decorated walls and austere beauty of the interiors create an atmosphere of peace and respect. And the Mir-i-Arab madrasah still functions as a theological school, and it is incredible that knowledge has been passed on here without interruption for several centuries. Walking through the territory of the ensemble, you feel like you are part of a great historical picture. There are antique shops, the aromas of Uzbek cuisine, and the sounds of traditional music all around... This place lives its own life, combining the past and the present. If you find yourself in Bukhara, be sure to visit Poi Kalyan! This is not just a landmark — it is the soul of the ancient capital and a symbol of the greatness of Central Asian architecture.

A cozy old town, but the entrance to it is at an exorbitant price, and once inside you find that many of the attractions are not included in the ticket. The ticket is given for one day and if you do not have time for something, then you need to buy a new one the next day.

Bukhara is rightfully considered one of the oldest cities in the world - it is already more than 2500 years old! Medieval Bukhara was not only a major political, cultural and commercial center, but also a significant religious center of the East. Therefore, in Bukhara, as in no other city in Central Asia, mosques and complexes are most fully, vividly and multifaceted. One of these is the Poi-Kalyan complex (XII-XVI centuries.) is very beautiful, both day and night, because it is beautifully illuminated. Be sure to visit this place!

We were in winter, there were few tourists, we walked along a quiet, cozy street. Entrance to the square is free, but in a store or mini museum we were lured to look and then asked for 1000 soums.... Then they tried to bypass this smartass!

The complex consists of a mosque, a madrasah and a minaret. It is somewhat similar to Registan Square in Samarkand, but smaller in size. The mosque is open to the public, the cost of entrance tickets is 40,000 soums. You can take a guide for an additional fee.

One of the main attractions of Bukhara, a must-visit, but you will not be able to miss it) The peculiarity of Bukhara is that most of the attractions are gathered in one area, within walking distance from each other. Don't forget to bring water, a hat and a purse) You will need money not only for souvenirs, but also to enter some complexes. There is a small cafe opposite the ensemble, which offers a beautiful view. We took herbal tea and baklava, enjoyed the moments, rested before continuing the active evening. And, of course, this is a great place for a photo shoot)

This is amazing! The ensemble is located in the center of Bukhara along the walking route from Lyabi House to Ark Fortress. Kalyan Minaret is a place of power! You can admire it for a long time and with pleasure, it is especially good in the dark, the backlight makes it more majestic. For fans of selfies and photos, this location is wonderful from all sides. Entrance to the square is free.
