A beautiful place with stunning views, ancient architecture. There is an opportunity to walk through the old "ruins" and understand how they really had fun before, but someone suffered)

Tunis, the amphitheater in El Djem, a grandiose structure supposedly dating back to 238, today it is a UNESCO heritage site and a tourist gem! This grandiose structure is amazing and admired by how well it has been preserved and the feeling of being in touch with history, getting into the past of the days of the Roman Empire on this earth. It is sad that the surrounding area, which belongs to this world heritage site, could be more attractive and clean for the tourist flow.

Another legendary place ... a well-preserved Amphitheater is an ideal filming location for the movie "Gladiator" ... a grandiose, fundamental structure ... inside the walls and among the powerful steps you feel like a grain of sand that flew from the future into the past ... a stone that preserves the history of centuries - it is very warm to the touch and reliable.... I definitely recommend visiting this place, but it's better with an excursion ( a lot of interesting information ) , and for individualists , there are very good souvenir shops near the Amphitheater, a large selection for memories of the trip .

The amphitheater in El Djem makes a great impression! Impressive architecture, the opportunity to visit almost any point of the amphitheater, from the basement to the upper floors. I visited this attraction in a compartment with a 2-day excursion to the Sahara

This is probably one of the most visited attractions in Tunisia. The third largest amphitheater in the world and probably the best preserved. You can walk around the arena, climb to the top of the surviving stairs, or go down to the dungeon and feel like a real gladiator going to battle.

A legendary place It is such a clean and perfectly preserved historical place. Jul. After the coliseum in the Italian city of Rome, it was incredible to see such a structure, the largest and most intact in the world, in Tunisia, a small country on the African continent

The magnificent amphitheater impresses with its size and preservation. And when you remember that the movie Gladiator was shot here, it's like you're going back to that era.

Excellent immersion in the atmosphere of the Roman amphitheater of the III century. The construction is more than epic. Access is allowed both to the upper tiers and to the underground part, where there was a menagerie and gladiators were kept. Combined with the guide's narration, it is especially impressive.

It's a very beautiful place to visit, there's a cute camel sitting at the entrance, if there's no owner nearby, you can pet it for free, I think that's the main plus.

A monumental ancient building. You can walk freely and imagine all the battles that once were in this amphitheater. If you have arrived in Tunisia, then you must visit.

Interesting ruins. You can stand in the place where the rulers were sitting. Go down to the underground complex where animals and gladiators were kept. Sit in the audience seats.

It's an amazing sight! One can only imagine how the crowd raged here when gladiators entered the arena...The amphitheater, built in 238, was never completed due to the uprising, and its preservation is no less impressive there. It was designed for 30,000 visitors initially. And today it hosts concerts and musical performances. I saw with my own eyes the poster of the Moscow Virtuosi tour 10 days after our visit. The amphitheater is kept in proper condition, and the places where gladiators used to appear are now equipped dressing rooms for musicians.

It's beautiful!!! We went to the concert of the symphony orchestra in the Amphitheater of El Jem. The impressions were only positive, although it was terribly stuffy. But it's very dirty around him, there are plastic bottles all around, which sooo spoils the overall picture.

We really really liked it. I am glad that you can walk everywhere. Be photographed everywhere. We drove by ourselves, without an excursion. The entrance ticket costs 14 dinars, we got there by taxi for 160 dinars, no one limited the time. If you imagine what happened there a couple thousand years ago, to read the history of this place, it becomes even more interesting.

The Gordian Amphitheater was built in the image and likeness of the Roman Colosseum by the Proconsul of Africa Gordian in Tisdra (now El Djem, Tunisia) in 232-238 AD. The amphitheater was used for gladiatorial fights, chariot races, fights of wild animals, reconstruction of hunting scenes.

We stopped at the Amphitheater in Eljem on the way to the Sahara. I really liked it! In principle, a guide is not needed there, in general terms everything is clear and so. Great photos. There is nothing to do in the basement, if you have little time, climb to the very top and take pictures)

It is very well preserved, in places there is a restoration (remodeling) of individual elements, in general it looks decent to the wave, with the right campaign there will be a lot of great photos for memory.

We liked it, but a lot depends on the guide. They just brought us to the globe and said 5 words about how the stands used to be located, then left us for an hour. In this case, it was easier to just come by yourself, paying 15 dinars for admission.
