In Rome, every step is an architectural monument. Antiquity, Renaissance, new age - any genre, any style. And even with all this, there are monuments that must be visited. The Spanish Steps are among them. The staircase, built in 1725, consists of 136 steps. It was created by order of the French cardinal in order to connect the embassy of the Spanish Bourbons (now the Spanish Embassy to the Holy See), located below on the square, with the church above (which belonged to France). Of course, films were shot here that glorify Rome in one way or another - "Roman Holiday", and "The Talented Mr. Ripley" (pay attention to the hotel above), and "Mission Impossible - Deadly Reckoning". In the last film, there is a notable episode where an armored car descends the stairs and then flies out, smashing the landing (see video). There is a beautiful view of the city from above (especially beautiful at sunset). The stairs, of course, are free to visit -) There are always a lot of tourists here, but no one bothers anyone. Everyone is going great, taking great photos and enjoying the wonderful view.
