A great place, a historical monument, the territory is well-groomed, clean, comfortable, there are also several points with various goods on the territory, there is a free toilet. There are many photo zones on the top, and in the evening there is a beautiful view of the city. I work until 22:00, the entrance ticket is 40,000 soums for tourists

The iconic place of old Bukhara. Beautiful locations for a photo shoot both inside upstairs and outside downstairs. It is better to visit in the morning, because it is very hot on a sunny day. The view from above is beautiful. Judging by the fact that active restoration work is underway, in the near future the citadel will appear to us in all its glory.

A historic place! The first thing you notice is the parts of the towers protruding from the wall. It is a very unusual sight, the citadel looks very massive and interesting from the outside! And there are camels there) you can ride, or you can take pictures, while trying to pet the wayward animal. The photo is cheaper, don't forget)
I'm taking off the star for the contents of the fortress itself. There is a very weak exposure inside - honestly, you don't have to go in. A huge excavation site, a view from the fortress wall, and everything else, perhaps - everything else did not arouse any interest at all. I didn't understand what the fee was for)

Ark (Uzbek Ark) is an ancient citadel in Bukhara in modern Uzbekistan; a monumental fortress towering almost 20 meters above the level of the surrounding area and covering an area of about 4 hectares. The fortress is the oldest architectural and archaeological monument in Bukhara. It is considered the most ancient part of the city with centuries-old layers of crumbling structures that formed a hill.

The museum is interesting, it is quite free inside. The spirit of antiquity is felt. Thanks to the restorers, you can feel how the inhabitants of Bukhara used to live. Restoration continues, the eastern wall is being restored. You can take many beautiful photos of the city.

The main attraction of Bukhara. It would be strange not to visit here. The entrance for foreigners is 40 thousand, which is 307 rubles today. There are several small museums on the territory, the entrance to which is already free. There is already nature, history and coins of Bukhara. Considering that the city is more than 2.5 thousand years old, it is necessary to visit the most authentic place. There is a souvenir sale, toilets. And, by the way, very interesting installations that give an idea of what this or that ruin used to look like. By the way, in the evening, in the rays of the setting sun, there is a beautiful view of Bukhara today.

The entrance ticket is 40,000 soums per person as everywhere else and the tour is the same. (June 2024).

A very interesting place in the center of historical Bukhara. There is a beautiful legend about the origin of the fortress. According to her, the Ark was built by Siyavush, the son of the ruler, who was exiled thanks to the efforts of his stepmother. The epic hero reached a prosperous city, meeting there a beautiful girl who captured his heart. She turned out to be the daughter of the ruler of Afrosiab, and he did not want to marry his daughter to Siyavush at all. The ruler set him a difficult task – to build a palace on one bull's hide. The young man outwitted the Afrosiab by cutting the skin into thin strips and connecting them together. Inside this perimeter, Siyavush built the promised palace. According to legend, this is how the Ark originated. The fortress is located on an embankment hill, on the plan it has the shape of an irregular rectangle, elongated from west to east. The area of the complex is about 4 hectares, the height of the massive walls ranges from 16 to 20 meters, and their length is about 800 meters. The walls have crenellated loopholes, and archers were stationed there during various attacks. A very interesting place with a local museum, I recommend you to visit!

Ancient Bukhara is impressive.
Inexpensive entrance. If you are a resident of Uzbekistan, be sure to bring your documents with you. The price of the entrance base will be several times cheaper.
One of the advantages: a gorgeous view of the city. Beautiful places to take photos. Interesting historical data. Everything is indicated in three languages
Among the disadvantages: a small museum exhibition.

The disappointment of tourists due to the whitewashed walls inside is understandable. Many people appreciate the historical authenticity and the atmosphere that brick walls create. Changes can be perceived as a loss of historical heritage.
However, the opening of the excavation is a really nice update! A walk through them and the opportunity to see the city from different angles allow you to better understand its history and architecture. This can be a great addition to the tour and give you a unique experience.

An interesting place from the point of view of the antiquity of the original object. It is not encouraging that many information signs indicate that the greatest destruction and damage was caused by the Bolsheviks in the 20s, although in the pre-revolutionary photos everything was destroyed and abandoned, the local bais did not care about anything. And nowhere is it indicated that the main restoration of the objects was carried out under the USSR. It's very unfortunate. It applies to both Bukhara and Samarkand.

The history of the ancient citadel of the Ark began in ancient times, obviously, along with the history of Bukhara, more than 2000 years ago. The buildings that have come down to us were built in the XVIII-XIX centuries: the main entrance with gates, the Jome palace mosque, the Kushbegi courtyard, the throne room, the greeting hall and the stable yard. By purchasing a ticket to the citadel (40,000 UZS), you get not only the opportunity to look at the residence of the rulers of Bukhara, walk around the ancient citadel and its walls, but also visit the expositions of the Bukhara State Museum-Reserve located in the citadel - local lore, numismatic, epigraphic, writing, history and ethnography...

It's worth going, but I wouldn't say that this is the most interesting place in Bukhara. Entrance is paid, but the cost is small. I advise you to take a guide. It will be more interesting this way. Most of the territory was destroyed after the bombing by the Red Army during the siege of the city. However, part of the fortress has been preserved. There is something to see.

Of course, the place is impressive. but!!! People make the place, and the impression that the local guide Zhenya made, sooooo enhanced the grandeur of this structure! We've been to many places and in many countries, but as he said, it's something with something! A person lives by this place and in general by history, local customs, the history of religion... 45 minutes of a standard tour turned into more than an hour of live conversation! Thank you so much, Zhenya, for the amazing story about this place specifically, and about Uzbekistan, religion! THANKS

It's an interesting place, but you still have to understand that this is a complete makeover. In places, you can observe the remains of the former wall, which say little about the former greatness of this fortress. And in the citadel itself, only earthen hills remained of the buildings. Still, the building material at that time was simply nothing !! In a short time, the fortress simply crumbled....
