it is impossible to resist entering this huge fortress on the way between the other attractions of the city. it offers a wonderful view of the main mass of historical buildings. 5 bricks out of 5.

Being in Uzbekistan and not visiting Bukhara is a big mistake. It is a crime to be in Bukhara and not visit the Ark citadel. In principle, you can not say that you will see a lot there, but the value is not in the amount of what you saw, but in the value, To touch the antiquity, imagine how it was hundreds of years ago, look at the city from the wall. That's great!!!

It looks very impressive from the outside, it's a pity that it's not illuminated at night. I didn't really like it inside... a souvenir shop, a small museum of local lore, a huge excavation area. Perhaps it was necessary to take a guide at the entrance

Beautifully clean and tidy, you can buy handmade plates at the top of the mosque. The seller accepts transfers of the mir card. It is necessary to bargain, you can throw off 20-25% in the throne room, a local artist sells very interesting works, including in the style of picture calligraphy.

She survived the raids of Genghis Khan and the storming of the Red Army in 1920. The territory of the fortress was about four hectares, and the population reached more than three thousand people, among whom at various times were such great personalities of the Middle Ages as Omar Khayyam, Abu Ali ibn Sina, al-Farabi and Firdousi.

One of the most outstanding historical places in the city, where there is also a museum with monuments of ancient writing. The most memorable is the throne room: when you enter it for the first time, you feel your heart begin to beat faster - after all, once there was a khan sitting here, at whose word alone a person could be imprisoned or executed. It's like everything here is saturated with human fear - that was my first feeling, at least.

Who has not been to fabulous Uzbekistan yet?❤❤-it is easy to visit and get a lot of positive emotions and impressions.
Specifically, the Ark Fortress is a well-preserved appearance of the emir's residence..A very rich museum .Exhibits-from interior items,,-to the museum of the fauna of the region..
You can recreate everyday life, walk from the stables and the throne room to the mosque.
Be sure to visit if you are in Bukhara.
I will definitely return to this fairy tale again

The Citadel of Ark.
The oldest architectural monument in Bukhara is on Registan Square ("Sandy") with a fortress wall 18-20 meters high.
According to legend, Ark built Siyavush out of love for a girl whose father agreed to give her in marriage only if he could build a palace on one bull skin.
On the scientific side, archaeologists have discovered the remains of buildings dating back to the IV century BC, and the foundation itself was laid in the VI-III centuries BC.
Ark has been completely destroyed and rebuilt many times. The symbol of the city of Humo (Phoenix) is a beautiful allegory here.
On one of the walls of the Arch hung a large leather whip (kamcha) — a symbol of power in the Bukhara emirate. I do not know what size that whip was, but in the museum inside there is a whip of the 19th century hero of Russia with my height.
In general, the size of people's clothes at that time was impressive, as were many flights of steps in ancient buildings. The combination of very high steps, where I had to climb a couple of times, and small doorways, where even with my 165 you have to bend down a lot, remained a mystery to me.
Inside, there is now the Emir's Palace, an Architectural and Art Museum, a mosque and ruins in a closed area.
The poet Omar Khayam and the great healer Avicenna (Ali ibn Sina) worked here in the deep past, and a unique library was kept, unfortunately lost.
The museum has a color photograph of Seyid Alim Khan (1880-1944), the last emir of Bukhara. This is the work of Prokudin-Gorsky - I have long dreamed of and suddenly saw his work in the original here.
There is also a fragment of a black silk Kiswa from the Kaaba.

The oldest and very interesting place. Touching the most ancient times. You get into all the life that reigned long before our appearance. From the height there is a wonderful view of old Bukhara. A mandatory place to visit. To be in Bukhara and not visit the Acre - it shouldn't be like this.
By the way. Cute camels at the entrance. It's a pleasure to ride.

I give the Citadel a solid 5, it deserves a 10 on a five-point scale. Monumental, excellent restoration, work continues now. Archaeologists continue to excavate. It is very wise that this place is given to them. Inside the surviving premises there are museums "about a little bit of everything" and trade. This is for an amateur, chaotic, out of place. I hope that a separate museum building will be built and this ruin will be moved there, and the fortress will remain a fortress. Make a path around the perimeter, restore the mosque - and with the view of the city that opens from the fortress, it will really become a treasure and a favorite place for pilgrims.

From the outside, the Ark Fortress looks large and majestic. The entrance costs 40 thousand soums at the time of April 2024. And the inside is not at all like the outside. There's practically nothing there. All the objects of interest are grouped literally just outside the gates of the city, and then just dust and ruins. Of course, this is all history, but the opinion is that the expectation after what was seen outside was somewhat not justified.
