The ancient gate to the city, a living history of more than 100 years BC, looks small and unsightly today, but this is history, not a new model.

The construction of the Porta Montanara or Sant'Andrea gate dates back to the first century BC. A round double arch made of sand blocks noticeably facilitated the movement of travelers arriving in the city following the ancient Roman road Via Aretina.
