The castle was built in the Baroque style, was built and destroyed over a thousand years, and was completed in 1748. The palace is a complex of three wings, based on an ideal square plan and open to the city, was the residence of the princely family. The castle currently serves as the headquarters of the Saarbrücken Regional Council.
