The Luxembourg Palace is a true symbol of Paris. The huge central pavilion with a dome immediately catches the eye, and in front of it is a terrace with sculptures of ancient heroes. The courtyard is enclosed, and the wings are symmetrically arranged in the corners, everything looks very harmonious. The facade is impressive: the columns run in tiers — Tuscan from below, Doric above, and elegant Ionic on the third floor. On the upper level there are small terraces with balustrades and sculptures, offering beautiful views. The southern facade was specially pushed forward to add a meeting room — and this gave the building even more grandeur. Despite the Baroque style, the decor of the palace is quite restrained: rusticated panels, cornices, stepped columns. The main focus is the bas—reliefs of the pediments with the gods of the ancient Pantheon: Mars, Athena, Hero, Dionysus and others. All this is surrounded by the Luxembourg Gardens — spacious, green, with fountains and almost fifty statues. Here you can meet French kings, philosophers, generals and mythological characters. Today it is one of the most picturesque places in Paris, where both locals and tourists come to relax and enjoy the atmosphere.

A beautiful palace. A huge area of ponds, fountains, and gardens. You rest your mind and body. It was not for nothing that, during the occupation of Paris, Field Marshal Hugo Sperle of the Luftwaffe occupied it.

The French Senate is now here, and initially the French Queen Marie de' Medici decided after the death of Henry the Fourth (known to us all from Dumas's "Queen Margot", and to some from the novel by Heinrich Mann) to build a palace reminiscent of her native Florentine Palazzo Pitti. By the way, I've been to the Pitti Gallery in Florence, and I can confirm that it's remotely similar. In 1631, architects Salomon Debros and Jacques Lemessier built the desired palace. By the way, it became Luxembourg City, since previously the house of the Dukes of Luxembourg, namely the Prince de Tagry, stood here. There was a wonderful garden all around. After the Medici, the Dukes of Luxembourg and the Dauphin (the future King Henry the Thirteenth) lived here, and for a short time there was a prison and the highest organ of revolutionary France, the Executive Directory. This is such a historic building. And a masterpiece of French architecture with an Italian touch.
