The Church of Mary Magdalene is one of the oldest churches in the Södermalm area. It was built on the site of a church erected back in the 14th century. The modern church was consecrated in 1634 and rebuilt in the 18th century. The former funeral chapel in the courtyard is being rented for services to the parish of the Finnish Orthodox Church of the Patriarchate of Constantinople. The other chapel used to be leased to the parish of Sergius of Radonezh of the Russian Orthodox Church of the Moscow Patriarchate, but now the parish has moved. The famous Swedish bard Evert Tobe (Taube) is buried in the church cemetery.
