This is a historic garden located in the 1st arrondissement, opposite the north wing of the Louvre. It is part of the architectural ensemble of the Palais Royal, which includes a palace, a square and a park. The garden was laid out in 1633 and covers an area of 20,850 m2. Originally built for Cardinal Richelieu and known as the Cardinal's Palace, it became the royal residence after his death and was renamed the Palais Royal. Today, the garden is open to the public daily from 8:00 to 10:30. It is surrounded by galleries with boutiques and cafes, and is also known for its modern installations such as the Buren Columns and the Paul Bury Fountain. In the garden there are magnolias planted in 1992, which bloom every spring, creating a picturesque sight. There is also a small bronze cannon that was used as a sundial in the 18th century and fired every day at noon. The Palais Royal Garden is an oasis of tranquility and beauty in the midst of a very bustling city. Interestingly, there are many cafes and restaurants near the garden that serve Asian cuisine, especially Japanese and Korean.
