It is a rare opportunity to learn about the nature of Uzbekistan not from the window of a car or train. A good way to spend a day walking in nature is when you need to take a break from visiting madrassas and mausoleums. I hope more tourists will learn about this place. The locals take a blanket with them and have a picnic, we went along the ECO-trail with the izi-travel audio guide, there is a story about the features of nature and the history of the place. We saw deer, the locals said that they could be fed, but the deer did not approach us. We were in the afternoon, it's better to come in the morning or evening, when the animals are more active.

Zarafshan Nature Reserve is famous for its picturesque landscapes, a variety of flora and fauna, as well as historical and cultural sites located on its territory. Reviews about it are usually positive, noting the beauty of nature, the uniqueness of flora and fauna, as well as the possibility of conducting scientific research. However, due to the strict protected status, free access to the reserve is limited, and a permit is required to stay on its territory! Zarafshan Park is beautiful at any time of the year. In spring, it is filled with the aromas of flowers and abundant greenery, in September and October, the forests are immersed in autumn colors. In winter, under the snow, turang groves and large white willow trees are especially impressive. Zarafshan Nature Reserve is the only place where sea buckthorn grows not in mountainous areas, but on the plain.

An unexpected place near Samarkand, 8 km from the city, you can get there / back by taxi for reasonable money. Entrance is paid, the price is symbolic. There is an eco-route, about 3 km, we circled around a lot in search of deer, and in the end it turned out to be about 10 km. Take water and a snack with you. Be sure to bring something for the deer, it's amazing to feed them with your hands. They're fearful, so be careful. We picked up small carrots and crunched with pleasure. You can't buy anything on the spot. Many thanks to the ecologists and park staff who are trying to restore the population and take care of this unique corner of nature as much as possible. There were in August 2025, there are still many traces of hooligan arson of trees, the forest burned in 2022, according to the guide. I'm listening to an audio tour on izi travel.

The circular route is an eco trail of about 3-5 km. There is an aviary with deer, but you won't see them during the hot day. You can meet people who walk by themselves in the distance) I was lucky) Get there - a point on the Yandex map as noted, the taxi brought you to the right place. Entrance 20,000 Then walk about 800 meters along the asphalt to the administration , Then after the barrier (closed) the trail begins - there are direction signs, do not get lost There is an audio tour that is interesting to listen to In general, it's a good place to go for a walk in nature.

A great place in good weather. Nature is somewhat reminiscent of the savannah. Deer graze, birds fly. Mostly plain, mountains are visible only on the horizon. It should be noted that the trails are mostly trodden by animals, comfortable shoes are needed. When planning a route, do not trust Yandex. You need to go from Samarkand via Jambai station. Otherwise, it will lead to a bad gravel road.
