Level 30 Local Expert

The Crown Prince's Palace, now the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. In the 17th and first half of the 18th century, there was a palace here that belonged to Field Marshal Lennart Torstensson and his descendants. In 1783, the building was rebuilt for Princess Sofia Albertina, sister of King Gustav III. The facade of the palace was an exact replica of the old Royal Opera House, which stood opposite (demolished in 1892). According to the will of the princess, since 1829, the palace has become the residence of the Swedish Crown Princes. In 1902, the building was purchased by the state from the royal family, and since 1906, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has been located here.
