Mariage Freres is a legendary French tea house founded in 1854 in Paris by brothers Henri and Edouard Mariage. The Mariage family has been involved in the tea trade since the 17th century, when Nicolas and Pierre Mariage participated in expeditions ordered by Louis XIV to India and Madagascar to establish tea supplies. In 1854, the brothers founded a company that initially specialized in the wholesale supply of tea for premium hotels and tea salons in Paris. Since 1983, the brand has moved to retail under the leadership of Kitty Cha Sangmani and Richard Bueno, opening the first tea boutiques and salons. There are five tea parlors in Paris, and a five—story boutique restaurant with a record "wall of tea" (1,000 varieties) in London. The brand is shipped to 60 countries, including luxury hotels (for example, Claridge's in London and Mandarin Oriental in Bangkok). Today, the brand has more than 30 points of sale worldwide. The range includes about 700 varieties of tea, including famous blends such as Marco Polo, Earl Grey French Blue and French Breakfast. The tea is made by hand, packaged in branded yellow-black jars and muslin bags. The brand is known for its attention to culture and traditions: there is a Tea Museum with historical exhibits in Paris. Mariage Freres controls the entire production process, from growing on its own plantations in 36 countries to packaging in Paris, using only natural ingredients. The brand remains a symbol of French sophistication. We ordered Japanese matcha tea and Tung Ting Jade tea from Formosa. We also ordered cakes, which we really liked. However, the tea was not very tasty. Matcha tea had a weak taste. Tung Ting jade tea didn't have a special taste either. Perhaps this is due to the quality of the water used to make tea. This can be seen from the taste of the tea. It is important to use high-quality water, as tea is expensive - 13 euros. It is necessary to inform the staff to use only good water for tea. Or they prepared tea more professionally, especially for the match.
