Askia Market is a real pearl of Tashkent, a place where you can plunge into the atmosphere of oriental flavor and find everything your heart desires. There is a unique atmosphere here: noise, uproar, aromas of spices and fresh produce.
Askia is not just a market, it is a meeting place for people, where you can chat with sellers, find out the news and just have a good time. Here you can always find fresh fruits and vegetables, aromatic spices, delicious tortillas and much more.
I especially enjoyed wandering through the rows of dried fruits and nuts. Here you could find rare varieties and try them before buying. And you could always buy fresh herbs on Askee, which is so necessary for cooking Uzbek dishes.
I am very sorry that this wonderful market will soon disappear to give way to another faceless reinforced concrete building. Askia is not just a trading place, it is a part of the history and culture of Tashkent. I hope that in the future we will be able to preserve such unique places that make our city so special.
