Cafe Abaata is an institution with a non-permanent kitchen and a bar (for me, it's still a good cafe rather than a restaurant). However, we visit it regularly due to its authenticity, geographical location, proximity to attractions and the possibility of parking. By the way, the first acquaintance (a few years ago) was extremely unsuccessful... the khachapur that we were presented with is still in my gallery... imagine if this would be the first experience of acquaintance with an Abkhazian dish for someone:) There was a fairly positive experience of regular, three meals a day with children in view of staying in the hotel of the same name. When we visit on occasion, we most often order Oriental dishes: pilaf, fried khinkali, lagman, they have never failed us yet) Teas and lemonades are dancing in quality, sometimes we refused to include mountain drinks in the bill. An interesting choice of seating options: outdoors, in a stone hall with massive furniture, a fireplace and animal skins, on the second floor with the possibility of seating on carpets, pillows and sofas. Payment in cash or by transfer, service fee is not included in the bill. The price tag is acceptable. Despite the shortcomings, I recommend Abaatu to visit)

It's a very cool place for Abkhazia. Excellent service, interior, interesting menu. The only food I didn't really like was the slicing in vitello tonnato - the slices are too thick, which makes it difficult to chew. Okroshka fire. A warm salad is a huge portion. The coolest restaurant in Gagra and in the vicinity! We come on vacation 2 times a year since 2019 and we only go here to eat with the whole big family! There are always very tasty dishes, as well as delicious drinks. Abaat's restaurant is delicious and without rotovirus! The chef of the restaurant is Andre Martin (he cooked for Nicolas Sarkozy, Mireille Mathieu, Philip Kirkorov). We ate only in this restaurant for 2 weeks of living in Staraya Gagra in September 2024, sometimes we went to other equally pretentious places. However, Abaat's restaurant is the best in Abkhazia! I decided to try mushrooms here for the first time. There is an unsurpassed duck buffet, chicken pate, desserts, sturgeon and humpback kebab and much more. In 2 weeks, we tried almost all the menus together with my wife. In the evening after 19:00-20:00 there is live music in the restaurant: female vocals. The audience is very pleasant, there are almost no flies, the air conditioner is working. I celebrated my 36th birthday at the Abaat restaurant in Gagra and all the food was very tasty! Payment is only in cash or by transfer. Non-guests of the Abaat hotel can come for a buffet breakfast for 600 rubles per person and for 1200 for dinner.

Caesar with chicken, with a good sauce (not mayonnaise with garlic) the chicken is juicy and tender, the only question is about balsamic cream as an ornament. The noodles are straight homemade, the broth is rich, rich in taste, the noodles look homemade, the children do not eat dill, but he was there, I put the noodles perfectly, I had to feed the children). Asparagus, well, the asparagus in the photo will do, but it is clearly frozen, overcooked and too small. The potato gratin was quite a success, the potatoes are not crispy, completely ready, sliced thinly, a lot of cheese, salt and spices are enough. The camembert with croutons is very tasty, the cheese is tender, the noble mold on the crust is moderately felt, the texture is excellent inside, the cheese is gorgeous. In general, the place is worth a visit, not a delight, but good. A dark-skinned kid in a chef's jacket walks in the hall. I think he's more for entertainment than the boss.

This is the third year we have been visiting this restaurant with the whole family. Everything was fine. This time, my husband and I ordered from the main course: a salad of crispy eggplant with tomatoes, mussels in white wine, lamb gigot. I'll start with a salad, a very coarsely chopped tomato, rubber eggplants that cannot be pricked with a fork, a huge amount of starch that remains on the teeth like sand, leaving bitterness in the mouth and a bunch of small seeds ... the salad was "strewn" with cashews. I didn 't eat the salad, I left it aside. The mussels were brought, and the salad seemed "tastier". A fairly large portion, in plenty of water and celery. 4-5 rubbery , sugary mussels were eaten at most, and the taste of celery (as if they were boiled in celery juice) interrupted all the notes of seafood.. A meat dish was brought to my husband, in mashed peas. The serving is not impressive, a piece of meat went to the "napkin"... the whole evening the cook went and took pictures with the visitors, instead of serving delicious dishes to the guests! We left upset , we will not return to this institution anymore. Moreover, our friends have repeatedly warned us that the cook has changed and the level of food and serving has noticeably dropped.

At first glance, everything was wonderful, but as soon as the ordered dishes began to arrive, the mood began to drop. French onion soup is an over-salted thick broth with fried onions and a HUGE piece of floating softened bread in the middle of the plate... an amateur, I thought. The young man ordered rice with additives of vegetables and spices...a mountain of unleavened rice with a hint of curry was brought, the dish was returned, the waiters did not even specify why we were returning the dish. Salads, mushroom risotto and various wines were also included in the order. We had dinner in the evening, and from 2 a.m., non-stop vomiting and all the accompanying symptoms of poisoning and intoxication began (we did not swim in the sea, rotavirus was excluded from the water). The result of the dinner is the hospital of the city of Gagra, in which I would not wish to be even an enemy, an IV for 3,000 rubles and a completely spoiled last day of rest with fever and nausea in the room. The cherry on the cake was that it was on the last day of my stay that I was supposed to make a marriage proposal on the beach, under a bottle of wine, in the sunset. I eventually received the offer after returning to my hometown a few days later, but the impression of the restaurant, Gagra and Abkhazia was completely and irrevocably spoiled. I sincerely do not advise and warn against this institution, the horse price tag is absolutely not justified. We still wonder how it was possible to get poisoned in such an expensive, hyped restaurant, when all these days we ate corn from the beach, mussels on skewers at the market and all kinds of local fast food ... The only and perhaps the last plus is singer Evgenia with a wonderful voice and a chic musical repertoire in the style of jazz and soul, listened with great pleasure.
