Abai Square. There is a small square behind the monument. Against the background of the Palace of Culture. Cultural events are held periodically. The capacity is not huge for a city, but it is enough for several thousand people. There are benches around the perimeter. There are enough of them on a normal day, but not enough on holidays. I didn't notice any fountains working.

The story of Ibrahim (Abai) Kunanbauly (Abai Kunanbayuly; August 10, 1845-6 July 1904) was a Kazakh poet, composer and Hanafi theologian-philosopher. He was also a cultural reformer of European and Russian cultures based on enlightened Islam. His name is also transliterated as Abai Kunanbayev (Abai Kunanbayev); among Kazakhs he is known as Abai
