A piece of the history of tsarist Russia, history and modernity are intertwined here, as this cathedral has not suffered from Atheists and has preserved ancient icons and decorations, lists of white Guards and those who formed a cross in memory of the executed royal family are kept here. The magnificent and sensitive, always hospitable servants of the church will probably give you a short historical tour. If you're polite and ask, they'll have free time! They speak different languages here and you can watch the services in the temple online!!!

The Alexander Nevsky Cathedral in Paris is the cathedral of the Orthodox Church and is located at 12 Daru Street. The initiator of its construction in the middle of the 19th century was the rector of the embassy church, Archpriest Joseph Vasiliev, who was faced with the fact that the existing prayer room could not accommodate all believers. The Alexander Nevsky Cathedral in Paris was built in the Russian-Byzantine style. The architects were Professor Roman Ivanovich Kuzmin of the St. Petersburg Academy of Arts, who drew up the plan, and architect Ivan Vasil Strom, who led the construction and design of the interior. The architectural solutions of the St. Sophia Cathedral in Constantinople, as well as features of the Novgorod and Moscow architecture of the 17th century, were taken as samples. The temple has a five-dome roof, where five domes symbolize Jesus Christ and the four evangelists, while the central dome rises to a height of 48 meters. As for the interior decoration, a group of Russian artists led by Yevgraf Sorokin, who depicted Jesus Christ blessing on the main dome, worked on painting the walls and creating icons. The iconostasis for the lower Trinity church was carved oak, transferred from the former embassy church. The interior of the cathedral, typical of Orthodox churches, is characterized by an abundance of gilding, frescoes and an ornate iconostasis. In September 1861, the cathedral was consecrated by Bishop Leonty of Reval. In 1922, the church received the status of a cathedral for Russian emigrant parishes in Western Europe, and since 1983 it has been protected by the French state as a historical monument. The cathedral is known for its rich history: in 1918, Pablo Picasso and Olga Khokhlova were married here, and in 1922, Ivan Bunin and Vera Muromtseva; Ivan Turgenev, Fyodor Chaliapin, Vasily Kandinsky, Andrei Tarkovsky and many other prominent cultural figures were buried within its walls. People always come here, the cathedral is very popular. The fragrance inside is wonderful, the aura is pleasant.

This is the story. The history of the third wave of emigration, the history of the Russian quarter in Paris. I still remember how at midnight we went to look for this temple. Naturally, everything was closed. We stood near the gate and sighed... When Russian was heard from the sidewalk opposite: "Gentlemen, the temple will be open early tomorrow morning, but in the meantime, please come to our bistro to drink tea" Ooo, emigrant Russian! We did get to the church early in the morning, it's like a fragment of tsarist Russia in France.

Christ is Risen!!! In 2012, during a pilgrimage trip to Trier to the Chiton of Jesus Christ, they visited France. At the vigil in the Alexander Nevsky Church, it seemed that they had come home to their native Church - the brightest memories

If you are a Russian person, and you will be on the Champs-Elysees or at the Arc de Triomphe - go to the Cathedral, you will not regret it. A historical place that is very closely connected with Russia.

I visited the temple with reverence. It is a pity that there are not enough parishioners. Happy Annunciation Day to all. Health, well-being, peace of mind. Irina

Isn't it time to return this temple to the Russian Orthodox Church of the Moscow Patriarchate? There is no longer a communist regime in Russia. When it temporarily passed into the jurisdiction of the Church of Constantinople (1931), the documents noted "that after the establishment of conditions for normal Orthodox life in Russia, this cathedral and other Russian churches should be returned to the ROC of the Moscow Patriarchate."
