The Apostles Paul and Luke were in prison (making a transfer from ship to ship on the way to Rome). Now the harbor is swamped, the walls have not been preserved.

Everything is enclosed by a fence on the mountain side. There's a swamp on the other side. But you can get to the ruins through the forest from the port side. 😎 The museum is under renovation in October 2025. Some of the ruins are visible from the sidewalk. There are signs in various languages in the forest forbidding access to the ruins.
