I liked it, it was very atmospheric. It's hard, of course, to look at Christian images in such a state, many have their eyes gouged out. Now there is a mosque there (as in most former Christian churches), we were only in the vestibule. Entrance to the territory is free

It is popular with Arab tourists. Until 20 years ago, it was an abandoned building. We came here as stalkers, just for fun: there were no approaches or descriptions. But now bravo to the administration! Despite the fact that this is a functioning mosque, the frescoes were not covered up, although images are forbidden in Islam. There are Roman-era columns on the territory, also, by the way, excavated a couple of years ago when laying the foundations of new high-rise buildings.

A former Christian church and now a mosque in Trabzon. The walls and ceiling of Hagia Sophia are decorated with beautiful frescoes depicting scenes from the lives of saints. A small park, a clock tower and a beautiful view of the sea and the surroundings of the city. There is a cafe, the entrance to the mosque is free, you can take a headscarf and a skirt at the entrance. It will be difficult to walk uphill from the seaport, a taxi is better, a taxi is relatively inexpensive, from the central park.
