It's a nice place to visit, the site is interesting, although the real construction almost is not there anymore.

An interesting place. As well as many places that are riddled with history.
The Russian fortress, founded in the 19th century, is located on a significant elevation. Stairs cannot be avoided, but it must be said, adds a certain charm to this monument of architecture and military architecture. The territory is protected, which has a positive effect on the safety and well-grooming of the adjacent footpaths.
The view from the fortress to the city is stunning. This choice of location immediately becomes clear.
The fortress itself is covered with inscriptions on the outside, like there was a ..., or an indication of the city. And it's upsetting, of course.
There is nothing left of the fortress inside, now there is a concert hall with good acoustics. The stage is round, there are seats around the perimeter, and there are balconies.
I didn't find any performances, but it looks unusual.
There is an observation deck nearby. The photos are cool there.
If you read about the origin of the fortress, and its role, visiting this object will be palpably richer perceived.

The black fortress in Gyumri was built of black tuff for defense under Nicholas I, later it was a prison and warehouse. Now it is a concert venue.

A fairly gentle staircase leads to the fortress. A view of Mother Armenia and the whole of Gyumri.
The building is covered and round, there is a stage in the middle, and arched "windows" on all walls. There are stairs to the second floor, but it is impossible to climb. I expected it to be cool, but no, the heating is excellent and the benches do not help much to relax.
There are no cafes and souvenir shops on the streets, and there are also few people in general.

A good place for a walk and photos is a restored fortress, I would like to add an excursion, at the moment there is a dance stage in the center of the room, the territory is not cleaned, they were during snowfalls, it was not very pleasant to walk, therefore 4 points in advance

Почему - 4 ? Не закончен ремонт.
Но через год это будет главная достопримечательность Гюмри.
Там и сейчас оказывается проводились некоторые концерты национальной музыки, акустика обалденная.
Желаю армянам успешного завершения полной реконструкции и открытия всего музейно-культурного комплекса.
Оценка "4" только за то, что ещё не доведена реконструкция.
Надеюсь через год побывать на концерте (кстати зал на тысячу мест)👍

Quite an authentic place, now it is a cultural and educational attraction of the city, or rather even of the country. I strongly advise you to visit it. Plus, the view from here is at a glance - Gyumri can be seen from the observation deck around the fortress.

Вид отсюда потрясающий. Еще внутри крепости прикольно - там сцена, оформление в средневековом стиле. Рядом есть огромный памятник "Мать Армения" - выглядит внушительно и красиво

Про историю строительства крепости вы и без меня почитаете в википедии или других источников. Сейчас же это, пожалуй, главная достопримечательность Гюмри. Находится в пешей доступности (1,5–2 км) от центра города, в хорошую погоду рекомендую преодолеть путь пешком.
Посещение бесплатное. Рядом в пешей доступности памятник Матери Армении и парк с прудом.

Everything is neatly repaired, you can sit inside the fortress to feel the whole atmosphere. Words cannot convey what a beautiful view of the city of Gyumri 😍 Mother Armenia stands next to the fortress, a little further away there is a square with a pond where you can walk. It's a pleasure to be there!

Ожидала внутри увидеть именно крепость, а не концертный зал. Снаружи отличное историческое сооружение, но внутри ничего от истории нет. В идеале переименовать место, чтобы не вводить в заблуждение.

Очень крутое место, до которого не очень удобно добираться, но оно того стоит. Рядом Мать-Армения, внутри хорошо отреставрированный зал, в котором видимо ставят спектакли. Историческое здание, идеально сохранившееся до наших дней. Находится на холме, откуда видно весь город.

Внутри крепости, к сожалению, ведутся работы и особо там смотреть не на что. Интересно оформлена сцена внутри. Ходили какие-то экскурсии в места, где ведутся работы, но одиночек туда не пускают.
Снаружи великолепные виды на город, что стоит посещения данного места.

Красивая круглая крепость. К сожалению, внутри ничего не осталось от оригинального состояния, там теперь шатер, которого изначально не было. Построено это все каким-то армянским бизнесменом и предназначено, как я понимаю, для проведения публичных мероприятий. Но могло быть и хуже.
