The memorial stone "To the victims of unjustified repression in Bobruisk" is dedicated to the victims of the Stalinist repressions of the 1930s and early 1950s. Initially, the inscription on the monument was "Bobruisk — to Bobruisk residents who suffered during the years of repression," but later the plaque was stolen and replaced with the current wording "To Bobruisk residents — victims of unjustified repression." The memorial was created as a symbol of the memory of the city's residents who suffered from mass arrests, expulsions, shootings, imprisonment in camps and other forms of repression, which covered a wide range of residents — workers, employees, intellectuals, clergy and other citizens. Individual names of the repressed Bobruisk residents are known, including Belarusian writers Boris Mikhailovich Mikulich and Platon Romanovich Golovach, as well as the first director of the Bobruisk Museum of Local Lore Tsodik Yakovlevich Slavin. Despite the presence of individual names, there is no complete official list of Bobruisk victims, and the number of victims remains unknown: archival data is incomplete, many documents are unavailable, and estimates in the republic as a whole range from 600,000 to more than 1.4 million people throughout Belarus. The monument was erected in 1998 on the initiative of the local branch of the society of victims of political repression and remains a symbol of memory, recalling the tragic events that affected the residents of the city, as well as the importance of preserving the historical memory of the victims of the repressive system.
