Bodrum Fortress and Museum of Underwater Archaeology If you are in Bodrum, be sure to visit the fortress. It's huge, and it'll take an hour or two to inspect it. There are many halls inside, exhibitions with amphorae, ancient artifacts and even finds from sunken ships. All this creates the feeling that you are walking through history, where the sea and the past are intertwined. The place itself is very atmospheric: powerful walls, towers from different countries — English, French, Italian, German. It is immediately clear that this is not just a defensive structure, but a real monument of cultures and eras. Plus— the views! The fortress offers a magnificent panorama of the city and the sea. It is especially beautiful at sunset, when the silhouette of the fortress becomes part of the landscape. There are places inside where you can sit down, drink tea or coffee, and take a break. The history is also impressive: it was built by the Knights of St. John in the XV century, later it passed under the rule of the Turks, was used as a military garrison, and even as a base in World War II. Now it's a museum, and it perfectly captures the spirit of the times. In general, the fortress is not just an excursion, but a whole journey into the past. If you find yourself in Bodrum, take the time, you won't regret it.

If you are in Bodrum, we highly recommend taking a walk around the fortress. We spent half a day there and would have walked if it hadn't been for the heat. Excellent museum of underwater archaeology - we recommend it. And the views from the fortress are beautiful.
