Jokang is located in the center of Lhasa, on Barkhor Square. Around the temple there is one of the most sacred “kor” (clockwise bypass) – “Barkhor kora". The most sacred statue of all Tibet is kept here – the 12-year–old Buddha Shakyamuni or Jovo Buddha, and other sacred statues and images are also kept, among which there are self-manifested images of the Buddha, which, according to the beliefs of Tibetans, manifested themselves on the walls. As they say in Tibet, Jokang is the heart of Lhasa, the heart of all Tibet and the heart of Buddhism.

Yes, we visited this monastery during a trip to Tibet. The impression was amazing, the atmosphere of the place was indescribable, I did not want to leave, together with the Tibetans we walked the bark around the monastery.

I consider it incorrect to write a review on this place. A place of power, a place of religious worship. The temple is surrounded by the coolest market in Lhasa. A lot of consumer goods with imitation antiques. But you can buy cheap and rare souvenirs there. Clothes made of natural fabrics, wool, hides. The main thing is to bargain. Even if the price suits you) There are also crowds of pilgrims, spinning hand drums, and performing kora. There are local eateries on the bill. Eat yak momo. It's just a must. It's like our manta rays, but in a local version. Delicious, informative. Beer is shit. But on fishless, as they say... Anyway, it's lucky to just get to Lhasa. This alone is worth being proud of.

The greatest relic is kept here - the statue of Buddha Jobo made of gold, silver and precious stones. Pilgrims traditionally kiss the knees of this golden statue
