NOT RECOMMENDED AT ALL IF YOU DON'T SPEAK RUSSIAN Everything is in Russian. The guide offers a brief explanation in English for less than a minute, then switches to Russian for about 10 minutes (despite his effort to accommodate us). The audio guide also provides a short explanation, but with a heavy Russian accent. Tickets are 4000 rubles per person and it's NOT WORTH IT. When we complained, the manager was rude but agreed to refund 1,000 rubles per person.

This is a fascinating place to visit. After the Cold War ended [alas only temporarily it seems] the UK opened up some of their bunkers but left little inside, this bunker, however, is a real museum with lots to see. The phones were even ringing in the communications room! A Russian guy answered but not sure what was said. But the kids on the tour seemed to love it, especially launching a retaliatory strike from the command room - they use the movie with John Lithgow to show the effects of nuclear war - that movie was made to make people realise the horror of nuclear war. Seems we all need to see it again in 2023. There is an audio guide in English which you need to get the history of the bunker from WWII/Great Patriotic War period to the more recent history. There is a lift but we climbed the stairs for exercise, not for the faint hearted! They also have a nice looking underground cafe which was alas closed when we were there. Not to spoil things but they have a few surprises to see/experience.

19 stories down and up. No elevator. I took the cold war tour - 4500rub for about 1.5hrs. quite expensive. Nothing was in English though, so I couldn't understand a word. However, the Russians were clapping quite a bit at the end- so I guess the tour was quite informative.
