An ancient fortress at an altitude of 2,300 meters. Amazing views of the slopes of the gorge, overgrown with beautiful poppies, will not let you get bored all the way to the castle. The castle needs restoration, one of the towers has come off the wall and threatens to collapse onto a narrow path on the edge of a picturesque gorge with life-giving springs below. Be sure to have a thoughtful, leisurely visit lasting at least 45-50 minutes. It will bring indelible positive impressions)

To be honest, the place is not worth such a long journey. The last half hour has been climbing up the dead road. The entrance fee is 1500 AMD, a child under 12 years old is free of charge. You can only get there by car. The fortress was destroyed in the Middle Ages, and only parts of the walls remained of it. Only the church is well preserved. Obviously, there was a settlement around, but no one is exploring anything. I do not recommend visiting

The fortress is interesting. Entrance is paid, 7 years ago it was free, there is a hiking trail through the territory of the fortress to the nearest village (for those who are not by car), I asked for a guard, they let me on the trail for free.

Амбе́рд (арм. Ամբերդ ) — исторический комплекс на склоне горы Арагац в Армении из замка VII века и церкви XI века. Расположен на высоте 2300 метров над уровнем моря.
История
Предполагается, что замок был основан князьями Камсаракан, затем замок перешёл во владения армянского военачальника Ваграма Пахлавуни. Впоследствии он был куплен армянскими правителями из династии Багратуни, превратившими замок в основной форпост своего царства. Церковь в нем была построена в 1026 году.
Впервые замок был захвачен турками-сельджуками в XI веке, а в 1236 году замок был окончательно разрушен монголами.
От замка вниз, в ущелье, вели многочисленные подземные ходы, некоторые из которых можно найти и сейчас. Также, в Амберде имелась система водопроводов, пока исследована лишь 4-километровая его часть, начало ещё не найдено.
Расположен замок Амберд на полпути до вершин Арагаца в красивом ущелье между двух рек.
3-этажный дворец занимал площадь около 1500 кв. м. Несмотря на то, что дворец частично разрушен, артефакты, найденные во время раскопок свидетельствуют о том, что дворец был богато декорирован.

It's probably very beautiful, but we couldn't see it - we couldn't get through on December 31. At the last fork (castle/lake) there was a dense snowfall and several traces of unsuccessful attempts to pass it.
So it's worth bearing in mind that in winter this place may be inaccessible.

Admission is 1500, children are free. There is a paid tour of 3500 it seems. You can watch it quietly for almost an hour. It is necessary to go at lunch or in the morning, as there is a strong wind in the evening. It's interesting to walk, look, climb. There is a toilet on site.

История веков перед твоими глазами. Замок пока не восстановлен, но его виды и без этого дают понимание, что сотни лет назад строили навека. Церковь даёт успокоение в веках. Просто посидите внутри, закройте глаза, почувствуйте веру в веках.
А места там...тишина и спокойствие
