And that's how many times I see her behind the counter, it feels like a person is wearing a mask of discontent instead of a face, and she talks somehow unkindly. This is a wonderful holy place, you feel unprecedented holiness, greatness, and, at the same time, simplicity. Every time I come to Mogilev, I definitely go to this cathedral to pray, put candles on, and at the same time think about something eternal, spiritual. I remember how this holy place was revived, I was a student then, and we were young girls, at first we went to see the renovation of the temple for the sake of interest. Back then, we, the children of the Soviet country, had little knowledge about God, temples, and religion in general, but we tried to know the truth of existence at least in a small way. I remember how, before the state exams, I came to the cathedral with my classmates, then the renovation was in full swing, but Divine Services were already being held. Everything was very modest, even there were no candlesticks, they were replaced by tin boxes in which sand was poured. A very friendly, modest and pretty woman met us in the candle box. We said that we have state exams coming soon and we want to pray for their successful completion. The candle maker suggested that we all buy crosses and order notes, and we did so. After praying and putting the candles on, we went to the exit, and having already stepped over the threshold, I suddenly stopped and went back, as if someone invisible was leading me by the hand back into the candle box, the Candlemaid smiled sweetly at me, and asked if I had forgotten anything. And I realized, but I forgot, at that moment my gaze was fixed on a small modest icon, from which our Lord Jesus Christ Himself was looking at me. Looking at the woman still looking at me sweetly, I said, "Yes, I forgot to buy an icon." I don't remember how long I stayed in the temple then, but after leaving it, my girlfriends were gone, and it didn't matter, the main thing was that a small ray of true Divine light appeared in my soul.Now, for many years now, this image of the Savior has always been with me, wherever I am. A modest little image that fits in the palm of my hand, but I know that it protects me in all my ways and keeps me from troubles and bad weather.
