The Old Catholic Orthodox Cemetery is a closed cemetery of the Catholic community in the city Grodno, the administrative center Grodno region of Belarus. The cemetery territory is bounded by Prigorodnaya, Podolnaya Streets and 4th Podolny Lane. There is an Orthodox cemetery on the other side of the lane.
The construction of the cemetery "ex urbem" was part of the urban transformation plan initiated in the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth during the time of the King Stanislav August Poniatowski. By the decision of the Police Commission of Both Peoples of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth in 1791, cemeteries in all major urban centers of the country were moved outside the city. As a result of this decision in 1792, near the eastern outskirts A new Catholic parish cemetery was laid in Grodno.
In the center of the necropolis in 1822 at the expense of K. Designed by the architect Studnitsky Karl Bagemil built a Chapel in the name of the Holy Savior. The bell tower was built in 1907. There are two memorial plaques on its facade: one dedicated to the defenders of Grodno in 1939, the other to the victims of Stalin's terror.
Tombstones by B. Shushkevich, G. Zaborovsky and others deserve special attention.
It was closed in 1973. In 1986, by the decision of the Grodno Regional Executive Committee, the old Grodno Catholic cemetery was awarded the status of a monument of regional significance.
