Famous historic site, but a bit underwhelming in reality. Feels more like a tourist attraction than an authentic place of history. Worth a quick stop if you’re nearby, but not something to spend too much time on.

The checkpoints came from the Reichstag specifically for this purpose. The road itself along Unter den Linden and Friedrichstrasse is very interesting and fascinating with beautiful buildings and historical monuments. But the checkpoint turned out to be a modern renovation, which was restored along with a sign about leaving the American sector relatively recently at the initiative of the Checkpoint Charlie Museum. The checkpoint itself is now in the middle of a busy highway - a real prop with masquerading American "soldiers" - does not deserve attention. But the place itself, which was probably the hottest spot in the whole world during the Caribbean crisis, is really worth experiencing. Nearby there is the Wall Museum, the Checkpoint Museum and the Panorama of the Wall. And there are also metal mortgages in the pedestrian areas showing where the wall ran.

It is definitely worth a visit if you are interested in the history of the Cold War and the confrontation between the USSR and the USA. Just be prepared that the real situation of that time has been lost. You will only be able to see the checkpoint booth, as well as marketing props, African Americans dressed in military uniforms (photo with them 3 euros), a bunch of souvenir shops, hustle and crowds of tourists. The atmosphere of those years will have to be recreated exclusively in your imagination :)

An interesting place is the preserved border crossing in Berlin. The museum nearby is rather one-sided, the division into black and white from the point of view of the winners in the cold war is sometimes touching ;-)

Probably the most popular checkpoint in Germany. It was built during the separation of the GDR and the FRG. tour guides tell us that not a little blood was shed here during escape attempts. It is often described in spy detectives and feature films.

Nothing special, Turkish citizens dressed in military uniforms, blocked the checkpoint itself with iron barriers and demanded 5 euros for a photo.
