Chor‑Bakr (also spelled Chor-Bakr or Chor Bakr) is an extraordinary memorial‑necropolis complex located about 5–6 km southwest of Bukhara, in the village of Sumitan. Over time, it has evolved into a serene “city of the dead,” combining sacred burial sites with spiritual and educational architecture . Built around the tomb of Abu Bakr Said, a 10th‑century great‑grandson of the Prophet Muhammad, the site gradually became the family necropolis for the Juybar Seyyids—renowned sheikhs and spiritual mentors in the region .

A magnificent ensemble of ancient structures, in fact it is a huge ancient cemetery, in such places you feel eternity, a very salty and bright place, we really liked it, I advise you to take a guide, so everything is much clearer. There is a mini zoo, lots of birds, large gardens.

There are graves of sheikhs from the family of the Juybar Seyids in Chor-Bakr. The necropolis itself is a fairly large architectural complex. The imam of this place is very good-natured, met us, told us the background, and we immersed ourselves in the history of this place. Fascinating. I advise everyone to come and visit this necropolis.

Recently, my family and I visited the holy place of Chor Bakr. It was an unforgettable and spiritually intense journey. The place is truly calm, beautiful and filled with special energy. The architecture impresses with its history and harmony. Everything is well maintained, clean, and there is a sense of respect for the shrine. The children listened with interest to the stories about the past of this place, and my wife and I found peace of mind and peace. We are very glad that we chose this place for a family visit. We recommend it to anyone who is looking for spiritual inspiration and silence.

An ancient burial site. There are graves from the 10th century. There is an active cemetery nearby. Those who like to wander among the graves, be sure to come, you will like it. A local volunteer guide, Jafar, will meet you at the entrance. For 10 thousand. He will give you a small tour per person. The tour is absolutely useless and uninformative, but Jafar himself is a very interesting person and creates a unique atmosphere with his positivity. When you leave, he will definitely ask for your opinion and wish you good luck. Chor-Bakr is much more boring without him.

This place shook me to the core. It is a place of pilgrimage for Muslims from all over the world. We were there as tourists, walked through the entire complex, looked into some open graves, it was a pity that there was no one to conduct an excursion, since it was time for general prayer. There is a dovecote on the territory with tame birds that are not afraid of people. Pigeons are beautiful, purebred, and have been admiring them for a long time.

This is a mausoleum, a burial place. Everything is in a gray-sandy color. It's a well-maintained place. Quiet and peaceful. A flock of peacocks roams the yard, important as they should be. A local mullah was coming out, pigeons flew to his exit, they clung to him all over. They calmly sat on our hands, on our shoulders, too.

There is little greenery and the water is too dirty in an artificial pond, next to the entrance there is a family shop for sewing and selling robes made from local cotton.

A memorial complex outside the city. There is an active mosque on the territory, the burial places of the Bukhara khans, and a traditional Uzbek cemetery is located behind the wall. There is a mini zoo with peacocks, guinea fowls, pigeons, and rabbits...

It's a beautiful place. There's a lot to see. We were allowed to treat ourselves to peaches from the garden) We took the tour, but the story was boring, and nothing even stuck in my head.

An interesting, quiet place. Ancient burials. The entrance is 15,000 soums. A taxi from the city is about 20,000 soums. There is a mini zoo with guinea fowls, rabbits, and ostriches near the entrance. Peacocks proudly strut throughout the territory. The man who looks after the animals and the garden is trying to conduct an excursion (unfortunately, it is completely uninformative), and asks for a reward for the service.

Very beautiful and spiritually historical places, unusual architecture that leads a person to the past, the locals are very polite and hospitable. In general, Beauty and tranquility. Bukhara is the pearl of the East, and the necropolis of Chor-Bakr is a separate, small, historical town in this pearl. Assalamu alaikum and always welcome!

This place has an amazing force of attraction! I first visited here about 8 years ago, now I visit here. Clean, beautiful, a completely different world! Those who like to be in silence should come here. Take water with you, there are no shops here. I recommend it, but don't make any noise!

A powerful place of power. It's good to come here and slowly wander around and think... Compared to my last visit here, this time I noticed that cars became very audible, and it became more difficult to detach oneself from the outside world. Nevertheless, it's a good place to think.

The Chor-Bakr necropolis is one of the most beautiful and visited places in Bukhara, founded back in the Samanid era. There is an unusual place not far from the city in the village of Sumitan. The architecture is mainly of the XVI century, built by Abdullahan II. Not only locals and other travelers come here. Clean, cozy, comfortable. There is even a small zoo where it is possible to see an ostrich, peacock, etc. The most interesting thing here is to feed pigeons and take pictures. In general, an interesting place. Recommend

It's like a heartbreak for us! We arrived after lunch, there were no tourists from the word at all. It was very meditative and pleasant to be there, we walked for 2 hours without a tour, we were very satisfied). And of course I was impressed by the peacocks walking freely in this city of the dead. Chickens and a bunny in the aviary can be fed with grass, the presence of ostriches surprised)

We arrived here at six o'clock in the evening, when there were almost no visitors. We were lucky, we met the muezzin of the local mosque, who told us about the history of this place and its current life. Such a positive, radiant person! He sang to us the beginning of the call to prayer of Muslims, which he announces from the minaret. He gave his pigeons to feed from his hand. He told about the employee of the archaeological expedition - a Russian woman, thanks to whom the dates and names of the spiritual figures and representatives of the ruling clans buried here were restored, about the honor and respect with which he personally treats her.

A large functioning mosque and cemetery. We did not get to the mosque, it was Ramadan and the infidels were not allowed there, it was interesting to walk through the cemetery, the method of burial for Uzbeks is completely different. Many graves have already been destroyed, apparently relatives either died themselves or left. I recommend visiting the toilet separately, it is called a washbasin there, it is a separate object at the entrance, I have not seen such a toilet anywhere, these are Sandoons among the toilets! Take the time to go.

An interesting place, a peacock walked right over the graves. But be careful, the local grandfather offers to tell you a little about this place, gives you to feed the pigeons with your hand, and then, of course, requires a donation for this) the ticket costs 15 thousand sums. Yandex.Taxi from Ark fortress 15-20 thousand.

1. A beautiful place 2. Calm 3. People are often not there at all, you walk everywhere calmly, it pleases you 4. They read the prayer there 5. During prayer, men come to pray together. 6. Namaz is recited five times a day. Therefore, if you want to walk calmly, then you need to choose a time when it is not read, and there are people during prayer 7. There is a grave at the back. Locally, Sari-Hawk (translated head and sand, sort of) 8. Free parking 9. The old well 10 . A small tourist shop 11. One public transport goes there. Damas and the bus. In 2019, for 1,500 sums (at the exchange rate of 12 rubles) 12. Taxi from Kolzoh bazaar to Chor Bakir 10 - 15 thousand! Bargain! They will announce the total amount(((
