A wonderful hotel! We were vacationing with a family of 4 people. There is a wide bed in the room, plus a full-size bed. This should be borne in mind, because 3 adults in one bed, even if it is wide, will be uncomfortable. Maximum with a child up to 130 cm. One of the main advantages of the hotel is the restaurant. There is a lot of varied food. There are European, Indian, and Sri Lankan cuisines to choose from. A vegetarian's paradise, every second dish is meat-free. You will also have a salad, fried eggs in a pancake, a piece of leg of lamb, or baked bananas in mango sauce. There is a separate room for desserts, because there are many, many of them! The territory is small. Everything that was written about chipmunks, monitor lizards and peacocks is true. Please do not feed the chipmunks with bread, it makes them feel bad, buy simple nuts, or bring ordinary seeds with you, they will be happy. There is a village around the hotel, there is nowhere to go on foot in the evening. In this case, we were helped by our guide, Cheri, from whom we bought excursions. We even had our room replaced because the first one didn't have a very comfortable mattress. We left towel figures a couple of times, and it's nice to have some change. No one begs for tips, but they are very welcome. There is not much animation. On Saturdays there are costume dances or fire shows. We were in July 2025. The weather was cloudy, which was even good, not as hot as under the scorching sun. Sometimes it rained for a short time. If it was in the pool, it was even fun to swim in the rain. The hotel is 30-50% full on weekdays out of season, and it is always fully packed on weekends. This is another plus, coming out of season. We had a vacation in Sri Lanka for the second time. The hotel is beautifully located. The room had a view of the garden on the ground floor with a terrace (we booked this room in advance). Here it is, let down. It's very monotonous and there's not too much choice. The restaurant's menu is more local-oriented. Especially compared to the hotel I visited last time. The waiters work slowly. Drinks have to wait a long time. And this is despite the incomplete loading of the restaurant. It became more lively after we contacted the reception desk and the restaurant manager. The food quality is good. Everything was delicious enough. No one went hungry. I spent my vacation in a wonderful hotel in Sri Lanka - and I'm still impressed by every minute! About the hotel — only positive impressions. Cozy rooms with ocean views, caring staff and an atmosphere of real hospitality. But the most vivid impression was an active vacation, especially surfing! The hotel has an ideal outlet to a calm but lively wave, suitable for beginners, just two minutes to the left along the beach. The instructors on site are patient and professional, and in a couple of days I felt like a real surfer with them! Many thanks to the Auchan guide! 🙌 He took us to beautiful and picturesque beaches, knew where the best wave for surfing was, where you could swim without crowds. The territory is well maintained, a steep swimming pool, 3 restaurants at the hotel for different tastes and budgets. Chipmunks run through the trees and squeal like birds very loudly, you need to get used to it ... sometimes in the evening there are performers from the show and a guitarist. There is a children's corner, a pool for children. There is a fitness room, volleyball and tennis courts too. It's full of greenery, the entire inner territory is a lawn. The food in the restaurant where everyone eats is typical Asian (all kinds of peppery stuff), for an amateur, but there is a choice. The hotel is huge. The service is good, daily ... On the downside: the room next door was renovated, which no one warned about (but asked for money). Drilled all day (almost like at home)). The BEACH is bad, there are rocks all around, swimming is not possible. You need to drive further south of the island so that there is a normal entry into the sea. Hello everyone We stayed at the Cinnamon Bey Hotel from November 7 to November 14 (all inclusive). I'll share my impressions. The main thing is that I liked Sri Lanka itself, a very beautiful country with stunning nature! I'll start with the PROS! We were greeted kindly, settled in quickly and before Check-in. The hotel itself is simple in architecture, but interesting (I especially liked the hole in the concrete ceiling), everything is clean, lots of staff, everything is looked after, full of greenery. The room was 332, modest, ordinary, clean, with a view of the garden and the ocean in the distance behind the palm trees. The territory of the hotel is small, but comfortable, clear and well-groomed (dense lawn, palm trees, trees with flowers from Avatars). There are a lot of chipmunks on the territory that jump right on the chaise longue (in the Russian Federation they bought unsalted sunflower seeds to feed them by hand) + we constantly saw two monitor lizards, in my opinion, the presence of such fauna gives the hotel an additional flavor. There are two swimming pools on the territory, mostly at the large one, which became a good help to the ocean (due to the absence of chlorine smell), regular cleaning and proximity to the bar. There were enough sun beds, the only thing is that they have such a design with handles that everyone constantly beats their feet against, the towels by the pool are clean and can be changed if necessary during the day. It's a two-minute walk to the ocean, there are several exits in the fence, the beach itself is beautiful with enchanting sunsets. The reef or rock lying along the coast perfectly dampen the waves (this is a big plus), but the beach has nuances, I'll tell you about them further. RESTAURANTS Basic: The staff is clear, drinks are brought quickly, they clean up quickly, they respond to requests quickly. In general, the service is quite good! The food is delicious and varied, there is seafood (crabs, shrimps, squid and lots of fish). Shrimps are cooked gray (someone wrote that they are already ready-red ones are fried, this is not the case). Fruits, pastries and desserts are all delicious (some with a Sri Lankan accent, you have to try). But there is always something to eat. The day bar with drinks and snacks is also good. A variety of snacks, but the same thing every day. They cook and serve quickly. We went to two A la Carte restaurants. The Italian restaurant FIRE was very pleased. Delicious mushroom risotto, Caprese salad (tender mozzarella). I will pay attention to the staff - they are sooooo good girls, waiters and cooks. They are friendly, they fulfill any requests, they are always positive. It's just super! Another NOODLES restaurant (Japanese and Chinese cuisine, smaller in size) is also delicious and well-served (the dishes are insular). I really liked shrimp tempura, gyoza (steamed dumplings), rice with shrimp and of course the king of desserts is just waaaaaufondane with ice cream. If you have A la Carte dinners enabled in the system, you can go to these two restaurants by appointment at least every day!!! Keep in mind! This is a very big plus+++!!! There is a mini-stage in the lobby near the main restaurant and by the pool. Beautiful live music with a saxophonist every day, sometimes singing Russian songs)) A couple of times there were performances by invited artists (fire shows). There is a small gym, once there was water aerobics for German grandmothers)). There were a lot of guests at the hotel, mostly Germans, British, locals and Russians (ours seemed to be the most, there were no citizens from the former USSR) + few vacationers with children. The guests are all decent and calm. You can safely get to know each other and spend time together. There are many separate recreation areas with sun beds on the territory. In the evening, everything is illuminated — romance. Now THE CONS The hotel building itself and the rooms are outdated (2005-2010 as in Turkey). The room has the simplest and most common furniture, cleaned every day, BUT the towels in the room were changed after a couple of days (even despite the tip). The minibar is paid for, and we and other tourists came across the fact that Soda or Sprite were taken from the minibar when cleaning, under the pretext that the guests had drunk. At the reception, we had to explain and prove that we hadn't drunk what was missing. Take a picture of the bar when you leave the room!! In any case, do not give money under the guise of a deposit in the room to the employee who accompanies you upon arrival! This is a hoax, and then when you leave, you need to prove that you gave an ordinary escort money like a deposit. After a long flight, our friends did not realize that they had given more than just a deposit to an employee upon check-in right in the room, as a result, they also sorted it out, picked up the videos, and found a cheating employee. When cleaning, they open the doors and the balcony, mosquitoes fly in, even though there is a mosquito diffuser in the room, it does not help. Be sure to buy yourself a mosquito repellent. Check the appliances in restaurants — there have been several times that they have been unwashed with leftovers or streaks. They didn't like the white wine, they say the red is normal. Juices are all upi, they are diluted in the bar with water directly from the tap (you need to ask to be diluted from the bottle).Also, in the lobby near the bar, it turned out that you can not drink your own alcohol (pay 10,000 rupees, I have never seen this anywhere), treat yourself to a cocktail or eat French fries together (from the same plate) with those who do not have everything included is strictly prohibited. They're just watching and swearing. There are flies everywhere — terrible flies! THE BEACH I don't know who is delighted with the quality of the beach, but personally we only liked the view. This reef stinks a lot of fish (especially to the left of the main beach exit from the hotel). The sand itself is rough and consists of broken corals and shells, blurred glass and even tiles. There are large rocks at the bottom that you can get hurt by. Children won't be comfortable for sure. It's beautiful, yes, the quality is for an amateur... (to the right of the exit, the beach is even more or less, the locals say that the water will get better in season). Someone writes that the guys are allegedly pestering with excursions-there is nothing like that!! They offer, but very tactfully. You can safely take excursions from them, there were no dissatisfied people (we did not meet such people, by the way, they are Cherry's main competitors, which I will tell you about separately). Locals can also come up with their own hand-made or rags, but they are easily brushed off. EXCURSIONS are a separate type of vacation that is definitely worth spending in Sri Lanka! You can take everything, you will like it everywhere! There were no dissatisfied people at all! We went to the old railway bridge — I really liked it! A fairy tale! Very cool and very beautiful! We took a ride on the train itself, too - super (even though there were a lot of people). Tea plantation - interesting, careful of the leeches. The waterfall with monkeys is also great. It is necessary to feed the macaques carefully, they can snatch sweets. We swam along the river in the mangrove forest - super, like in the movie Avatar. And now our "beloved" CHERRY! We contacted him back in Russia, after reading the comments about the hotel (almost everyone had information about Cherry), he left the tours, looked and chose. We ordered a separate airport transfer from him, and it turned out that it was possible to find it for 30 dollars cheaper. At first, everything was fine. He organized a lot of individual excursions for us, took us shopping, brought everything we asked for (including alcohol, etc. at the hotel - the white wine didn't come in, and I didn't want to drink cocktails, they say the local rum is also super). At first, Cherry pleased us with his attention, BUT so far he has not started to turn on the "cunning gypsy" too much and bend it to his terms! After all the excursions and purchases, he promised us a free boat tour to the Lighthouse (it usually costs $ 20 + entrance to the lighthouse). Everyone who visited it before us was pleased and we decided that we needed it too, especially since the entrance is only 1000 rupees per person (he gives us a boat delivery), everything seemed GREAT! But for some reason, when boarding the boat, the entrance to the lighthouse became 3,000 rupees, and when disembarking on the island, the entrance became 3,000 rupees per person. We didn't agree to that, we told Cherry about it, and of course we kissed the closed door at the lighthouse. Cherry pretended to call the caretaker (in Sri Lankan, of course, who knows what he was shouting, he probably screamed at us)))), but in the end no one came out. We decided to go back, and fortunately, Russian tourists with their guide came to the meeting, who willingly told us about the 1,000-rupee tariff, which they opened the lighthouse to, and we also visited it with them. And Cherry was told, if you sail away, then we have someone to come back with))) he probably messed around in his Sri Lankan, but he was sitting there waiting! Because he really needs our feedback and God forbid they will be negative. On the way back, he had already caught up with the fact that he had made a fool of himself, and began to cover up for his sins with gifts (as a result, he gave T-shirts, although many guides make gifts, another guide gave 8 kg of fruit to our friends from Novosibirsk). In general, Cherry turned out to be a very obsessive person when communicating. We needed to go out for gifts or fruits, but he couldn't do it at convenient hours for us (he lied that everything was already closed in the city in the evening, although the other tuk-tuks were taken and we bought everything we needed). With the reviews, he got right to the fullest, pressed — leave it as soon as possible, and with him, he also corrected what to leave and what to add! All the comments written about him with his phone number were written by people at his insistent request of 90%. After talking to the tourists at the hotel, we concluded that Cherry had already become arrogant and that it was possible to find tours cheaper. So before you order from him, ask around from others, for example, Sasha on the beach! He's super! Overall, the rest went well, the pros and cons can be found everywhere! Have a good rest!

The breakfasts weren't bad, but I liked the dinners much better. A large selection of dishes. There is no entertainment program in the hotel as such, only live music every evening. And during the day there was water aerobics and volleyball. The gym is small but nice, and you can play badminton nearby. The beach is nice and without waves, we went to the neighboring beach to the left of the hotel along the concrete road along the sea - there is fine sand and waves, we also surfed there (to the left of the Shasha restaurant). There we made friends with a cool guy, Joe +94 77 8154538 (for those who know English, we highly recommend it). He was always ready to help us with currency exchange and took us to the city for free on a tuk-tuk, arranged an excursion and a picnic on the island with a lighthouse. Do not change the currency at the hotel, the exchange rate is very low and unprofitable, in any jewelry store they will change at a more favorable rate, but preferably through Joy or Cherry, which I will tell you about further. He's a great guy, speaks Russian, helped us with currency exchange (you can even change rubles), took us on a tuk-tuk several times for free to buy fruit or for a massage to a local Guru. We went from Cherry on a day trip to Ella ($100 per person), generally liked it, but had no luck with the weather. The price difference with the tour operator was $30 per person, but Cherry had a more comfortable bus, and believe me, this is important. There were 7 of us on the bus. On the first tour, we waited 1.5 hours for the bus! We already wanted to ask for a refund and leave! There was no guide - he didn't tell me anything at all, he just said that his whole family died during the tsunami, and he was the only one who survived! The delay was attributed to those who were sitting on the bus for our group- 6 people who were waiting on the spot at the specified time! And we look at them, supposedly the girls overslept there, and waited for them! It looks like the tour operator screwed up. But they promised us a good guide for our second two-day excursion deep into the island. And then I got really lucky! Mark was with us for 2 days, who speaks Russian well and knows a lot about the island's history ! He organized everything perfectly ! Thank him very much! We saw and heard a lot!
