An exemplary example of Soviet fundamental sculpture, no impressionism and other isms. Excellent accessibility, excellent photo point. Part of the Yakub Kolas Square and the sculptural troika. One of the business cards of the city. Two paid parking lots nearby.

I always remember my school years near this monument. Of course, not many guests of our country have heard about Drygva, but for every Belarusian, grandfather Talash is something native. Cool pictures are obtained here

The sculpture is a monument to a real person, the hero of the partisan movement in the Soviet-Polish and Great Patriotic Wars, Vasily Isaakovich Talash. Vasily Isaakovich, who was often called simply grandfather Talash, became the hero of the famous story by Yakub Kolas "Drygva" ("Quagmire"). In the novel, the hero is referred to by the name Gregory. Yakub Kolas was not personally acquainted with V. I. Talash at the time of writing "Quagmire", but after a while Talash met with the writer. Grandfather Talash, who read the story, decided to personally get to know the writer, and he succeeded. In 2011, based on the story "Drygva", a four-part film "Talash" was shot at the Belarusfilm film studio. The bronze monument to the literary hero Yakub Kolas was opened in 1972. Sculptor Z. I. Azgur worked on the monument, architects: Y. Gradov, G. Zaborsky, L. Levin. The image of grandfather Talash is as authentic as possible.
