Divriği Castle is one of the most preserved and difficult-to-conquer castles in Anatolia with its Mengücekoğulları period stonework and strategic location on a natural rocky slope. Positive aspects Strategic height and visibility — The castle is located on a rocky hill, dominating the valley of the Çaltı Creek; this height makes the defense strong. The double structure (inner-outer fortress) and the strong rampart ruins — the layout consisting of the inner and outer fortress and the long rampart line (reportedly up to about 1-1.5 km) provide the depth of defense. Monumental building elements such as the Lion Bastion — conspicuous bastions and reliefs add both historical and touristic value. The fact that it has a long history and is well documented — there are inscriptions and academic works belonging to the period of Mengücekoğulları; this increases its historical importance. Negative aspects / limitations It is in a dilapidated and partially ruined state - today there is destruction and missing rampart fragments in many sections; it is not fully preserved. Difficult access (steep/slope in places) — The high and rocky location may make it difficult for visitors to reach; hiking/car parking may be limited. Lack of interior arrangements — There are limited remains of buildings such as shelters/accommodation inside; there are no large interiors to visit, it's more rampart/ruin observation.
