It's a very sweet, touching place! What a miracle Mother Nature created, and man refined it. The director of the Garden came up with the idea to create a Chapel in the "annex" of the old Oak Tree, the locals brought Icons. Inside, we can pray, collect our thoughts, and thank the Lord for what he gives us, including the opportunity to visit this wonderful place! A low bow to the people who keep order in the Garden and specifically in this beautiful place. 🙏🏻

Kutaisi, the ancient capital of Georgia, is famous not only for its historical monuments, but also for its picturesque corners of nature. One of these places where history and nature merge is the Oak Chapel located in the Kutaisi Botanical Garden. Imagine: you are walking along shady alleys, inhaling the scent of exotic plants, and suddenly a majestic oak tree appears in front of you, in the hollow of which there is a small chapel. It's not just a tree, it's a living witness to history, a symbol of faith and hope. The history of this unusual place is shrouded in legends. It is said that in Soviet times, when religious rituals were banned, locals secretly gathered in the hollow of an old oak tree for prayers. So the tree became a kind of shelter for believers, a place where they could find solace and support. Over time, the hollow was expanded and turned into a real chapel. Inside you can see icons, candles and other religious attributes. This place is imbued with a special atmosphere of peace and spirituality.

A living tree with its own atmosphere, and all this in the Botanical Garden of the city of Kutaisi. It is really worth visiting both the Botanical Garden and the oak chapel.
