The point of the Struve Geodetic Arc. Shovels. The Struve Geodetic Arc is a network of 265 triangulation points with a length of more than 2,820 kilometers. It was created to determine the parameters of the Earth, its shape and size. It is named after the head of Friedrich Georg Wilhelm Struve's works. The points are located in 10 countries: Norway, Sweden, Finland, Russia, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Belarus, Ukraine and Moldova. The northernmost is the "Fuglenes Point", marked near Cape Nord Cape and the town of Hammerfest in Norway. The southernmost point is Staro-Nekrasovka, located in the village of Staraya Nekrasovka near the town of Izmail in Ukraine. There were previously 31 points on the territory of Belarus. In 2001, the specialists of Belaerocosmogeodesia found 19 sites. 5 of them are included in the UNESCO World Heritage List: Tupishki, Lopaty, Osovnitsa, Shchekotsk and Leskovichi.
