REMOVE THIS NAME OF THE OBJECT... This is not a temple of any kind. I studied the history of Samarkand at the Institute of Archaeology and took part in excavations at this ancient settlement. This is certainly not the ruins of a Zoroastrian temple. This is a remnant of the main fortress wall of the third Shahristan (the third ring of defense of the city). The walls of the ancient city were up to 25 meters high and 4 meters wide.Loopholes are visible in the photo. And you can see for yourself that this is the extreme point of the settlement... What other temple is there?))) These walls saw Alexander the Great, the hordes of Qutaybah and Genghis Khan... And most importantly, in the early 80s of the 20th century, this top of the wall was FIXED with chemical composition by specialists from the chemical laboratory of the Samarkand Institute of Archaeology.

A place where you can touch the history, there is parking for your car nearby, but I walked about 30 kilometers. Not everyone can climb the mountain, and even more so, it is difficult to get such an experience for an ordinary person! So if you're around, take a look.

You can come here without any problems, the view from the hill to the city is amazing The ruins themselves are not guarded in any way, which on the one hand allows you to touch them, and on the other - of course, they will pull them apart quite quickly. Read my thoughts and travel descriptions in the telegram channel. Link in the profile name or by QR code on the avatar, I will be glad to everyone

Abandoned excavations. Sheep, gophers, dogs. But it is interesting to wander through the hills in the center of Samarkand.

The only real object preserved from the excavations. I highly recommend a visit, it is not at all clear how long these walls will remain. It looks unusual

You won't understand where the entrance is, there's a lot of garbage, although the place is interesting, even the locals don't know how to get to where the main entrance is!

The view is beautiful from a height. There is little beautiful and interesting from the wall. That is what it is. Before the construction of the new road, which has been under construction for almost 10 years, it was more beautiful

A very ancient place. It is better to visit early in the morning, then the sun is very strong and there is no place to hide.

They didn't understand anything. There is no navigation, a piece of wall (apparently it was him) sticks out next to a bus parking lot and some kind of tea house. In general, Afrosiab clearly requires more attention from the authorities and funding, the place has huge potential, but so far it is only potential, unfortunately((

It's impressive if you're imaginative. But the authorities could also take care of the preservation of the city's oldest monument. A little more, and there will be nothing left of him. Water and wind are doing their job.

The remains of the historical walls (sandy in color) are located on the top of the hill.

You need to visit here, but first you need to know the history of Afrosiab
