Filipenko is a tiny cafeteria in the heart of Novi Sad, hidden from the tourist traffic on a narrow street. You'd never find it unless you were looking for it, as it's overshadowed by a local giant, another coffee shop, "Zenit Books." I myself passed by it several times, overlooking its minimalistic sign. It was only because of a friend's recommendation that I finally opened the door and stepped inside, ready for anything. At first glance, the interior wasn't fancy at all: plain white walls and seemingly nothing else. However, as your eyes lazily scan the place, you start to notice other things: Soviet-style carpets on the floor, posters here and there, and plants scattered around the corners. All of these create a unique atmosphere that makes Filipenko a memorable place. People don't go to coffee shops just to drink coffee; they can do that at home. They go because these places, if they're good, offer something more. Ambience is surely one of them. When I ordered my "the-biggest-americano-you-can-make," I sat upstairs and immediately fell in love with the place. There were quite a few people, chatting quietly at different tables: IT guys fixing bugs, medical students doing homework, entrepreneurs having Zoom calls with their colleagues. All of this immediately reminded me of what a coffee shop really is: a meeting point. The service is also excellent. The waiters are always nice and helpful, speaking all possible languages. What I like most about them is that they are not there to sell; they are there to assist. Almost invisible, they bring your drinks, clean the tables, say some random nice things here and there, inevitably making you smile. A tip is never demanded but always well-deserved. It's a shame that I don’t always have cash on me to express my gratitude.

I was walking under the February snowfall and froze, I was lucky enough to enter this coffee shop. I was offered some kind of warming drink — coffee with something either berry or apple. I don't remember exactly, but it was very tasty and really warms up. The waiters are very nice, and it's very cozy inside. I'm thinking of going back for breakfast

Very tasty coffee. There is an alternative (funnel) and a choice of mono varieties. Delicious desserts. Delicious cuisine, but few dishes. Very cool buckwheat with cream. For some reason, the oatmeal and poached egg were removed. And she was delicious. The only time in Novi Sad when they made not a sweet mash, but an excellent porridge with egg and cheese. Bring it back, it's a crime!

Very tasty coffee, cheesecakes, zucchini pancakes with salmon. I didn't really like the salmon with brioche, but it's just that I prefer salmon combined with some kind of grain toast. It can be stuffy on the top floor. It is very inconvenient that the payment is only in cash.

Excellent cafe, coffee, sandwiches and desserts. The only thing that bothers more is the number of people with laptops who take up space and, at best, take a cup of coffee. Why don't you guys go to the coworking? We would make room for those who want to drink coffee.

The food was delicious, and so was the coffee There are disadvantages in terms of convenience and cleanliness of dishes - low glasses into which coffee is poured are absolutely inconvenient to hold, especially if the coffee is hot, the water glasses are very badly scratched and directly require replacement. Otherwise, it's a great place with friendly staff and a pleasant atmosphere.

An overrated cafe. The food is very salty, the glasses are all cracked, the coffee is tasteless (I can make the same at home). You sit down at a table and serve yourself and take a glass of water. It's stuffy on the second floor. Green tea is served woody, it tastes like puer.

After reading + reviews about coffee and delicious breakfasts, we decided to treat ourselves in the morning as a family.. But something went wrong or the reviews here are all purchased. The Americano was light brown in color and tasteless, as if it were just tinted hot water. Different people came to my request to make coffee of a normal strength 3 times, the bartender girl aggressively argued with me about the quality of coffee, which certainly indicates the level of staff. Although.. maybe she just hates girls, because she smiled radiantly at all men. The barista really apologized, the coffee was replaced, but it got better quite a bit. In general, if you are a coffee gourmet, you understand a lot about good coffee, then there is nothing for you to do here. The food was waited for a long time and it was as wonderful as the coffee. The cheesecakes were the most delicious, but for some reason the cook poured whipped milk slush next to them. The sandwiches arrived an hour later with huge thick chunks of stale bread, rotten lettuce leaves, fish transparently sliced and not the first freshness. I had to pick and throw out the rot, and it was 50% of all the greenery. I was hungry..but I'd rather be hungry, because I was sick after this breakfast. By the way, the bill was about 3,000. 😂 The interior of the cafe is pleasant, the toilet is clean, so maybe it's the staff, who, as you know, can ruin any, even the most wonderful business project. I was surprised that people actively go to cafes, perhaps drinks with milk and sugar are better than black coffee here, and someone eats salad without looking, just swallowing rotten leaves and snacking on a thick layer of bread. I rarely write negative reviews, it is much more pleasant to share something good, but today it is so.
