A place of power! The only restored pagan temple in Armenia. Usually, the study of the tourist attractions of Armenia begins with Garni, which is due to the proximity to Yerevan.
A fantastic temple located on the edge of a picturesque gorge. If you want to have amazing photos in your collection, go there.
The intrigue is fueled by the fact that on the way you will first pass by the Charents Arch. This is a small observation deck, from which the majestic Ararat opens in good weather!
But the fact is that a few kilometers from Garni there is a stunning Geghard temple. Part of the monastery is carved into the mountain. The monastery itself is very ancient and majestic. If you are lucky, you can get to the service, and the chant - acoustics of the temple will make even the most inexperienced and indifferent person tremble.
Thus, the very first trip to Garni-Geghard will give you indelible impressions and a huge collection of excellent photos! :)
I definitely recommend it!

We visit regularly with an interval of a year or two) Attracts beauty, grandeur and the breath of antiquity! Gorgeous views and stones that conceal the mysteries of history.
For tourists there is a fountain (pulpulak) with delicious drinking water, a clean toilet, benches in the shade of many fruit and wild trees!

Garni Temple is the only pagan temple preserved in Armenia, and, at the same time, the only monument of the Hellenistic era in the territory of the former USSR. The historical and cultural complex of Garni rises 28 km from Yerevan, in a picturesque place of the Kotayk region above the valley of the Azat River. According to researchers, it is dedicated to the sun god Mithras. In 2011, Garni was awarded the UNESCO-Greece Prize. Melina Mercury. The exact proportions and symmetry of the building, Ionic columns and elegant carvings, classical Greek ornament with subtle Armenian accents – this is the majestic temple of Garni.

The fortress temple is a magnificent structure. I was there for the first time about 40 years ago. Then there were no concrete platforms, the temple was more natural. Now people are "crawling" and "climbing" on it, and this somewhat "offends" this holy place. Still, one must respect such a place and structure. I have one left for the future - both earlier and now the guides say that there used to be very tall people there and that's why the steps are made so high. I don't agree with that at all. Nowhere else in Armenia have such steps been made, there are no oral or written testimonies about such people. It seems that the giants were created in order for them to walk on these steps. Over time, the galaxy (or tribe) of tall people disappeared without a trace. The steps are knee-high to a person, it can be seen from photos with tourists. so their height is from 40 to 50 cm. Now, for our normal people, the height of the steps is 15 cm, if it happens more, it is difficult to walk. This means that the people of that time had to be from 5 to 6 meters tall. As a mechanical engineer, I understand that such an explanation about giants is incorrect. In my opinion, these steps were the last line of defense of the Temple. If the enemy could pass through the main line of defense, he would be met by normal-sized defenders from the top step. Attacking from the bottom step on high steps is the same as attacking an opponent who is on top of an icy snowdrift. The attacker must overcome high steps from which he could be pushed with just long sticks. It is impossible to attack from the bottom up the high steps. Therefore, in my opinion, the high steps are designed not for tall tenants, but for low attackers. This is the last line of defense, not the giants' walk. It will be interesting if someone finds any information (objectively reliable) about the "tribe of giants" defending the Temple of Garni.

A beautiful place, a fortress and a symphony of stones below, it's a pity that it's paid, but they can also understand, they probably spend this money for the territory, it's always clean, the road to the fortress is cool. And every day there are many tourists from different countries.

The temple, like, in my opinion, all the antiquities in Armenia, was destroyed by an earthquake at one time, and what we see now is a relative novelty. But I must say that it is very high-quality. In the sense that it does not look plastic, artificial. So to speak, the spirit of antiquity is present. The territory deserves special attention. Not only is everything clean and well maintained, there are many different trees planted here. I'm not a gardener, I don't know what it's called. But we were at the end of April, and the colors were just amazing. Cherries were blooming, something yellow, pink. And the surroundings themselves - the mountains, the gorge - are also pleasing to the eye.

You can get 500 drams by bus 266 from the Mega Mall. A trip through the mountains with local drivers is a special entertainment) we got there quickly, about 30 minutes. There is a symphony of stones gorge near the temple, so you can spend the whole day in nature and take the evening bus back to Yerevan. Entrance is paid (1500 drams adult), you can use a card. The views are very beautiful.

It's a very interesting place. It is said that during the Soviet period, the Soviet government did a lot to ensure that the Soviet Union had its own acropolis. Yes, Garni is very similar to the Greek Acropolis and it is very surprising at first glance. But if you look from the outside that both were built at the same time, it turns out that they come from the same origins. The most important thing is that the Armenian government does everything to make it convenient and useful for tourists and guests.

It is very beautiful, it can be a good place for photography. But before you go, you need to familiarize yourself with the history of the place. You can take an audio guide, but there are few of them.
Well, IMHO the ticket price is a little too high
