I want to tell you about the current situation.
My sister's laptop was not working well and she gave it to Gadget Service LLC (17 Kalvariyskaya, office 507) to reinstall Windows OS and clean it from viruses.
After some time, they called and reported that a HDD replacement was required, since it was all in BAD sectors and reinstalling the system on it was impossible.
They offered to install a used or new HDD for a fee and rewrite all the information on it. My sister asked me what she should do. I called back the person who handled her laptop to clarify the details. I was told that they could not reinstall Windows OS due to a malfunction of the HDD (they said he had "few lives" left), they had not yet rewritten the information, they only worked with the "C" partition, the "D", "E" disks were not touched and they are in normal condition - they will rewrite the information from them, but It takes time. I suggested to my sister to go and pick up the laptop in the same condition as it is, then I thought that the data of the pros had broken something and it was easier to fix everything myself. When we arrived at the office of this company, we were shown our hard drive connected to their computer, a lot of red, as they said, this indicates a malfunction of the HDD. By chance, a USB flash drive with an Ubuntu Linux distribution turned out to be in my backpack (my work is related to electronics and information technology), I asked to install our HDD back into the laptop to check how it would behave, and launched Linux OS from the USB flash drive (the service workers did not expect such a turn of events, they were happy to install it its back - see that nothing works). After booting the OS, it became clear that the system has a HDD divided into two disks (there were three partitions on our hard disk). When asked if they were sure that it was definitely our hard drive, we were given the answer - definitely ours. After checking the contents of the HDD partitions, it turned out that only other people's files (pictures, movies, etc.) are present there. I could not explain how, if the Windows installer failed, the disk could be split into two partitions and how someone else's information was recorded there (if they are such professionals and did not do this manually). They said that they did not check the information on the clients' disks, but the hard drive was definitely ours and the failure to install Windows was to blame for everything. We tried to arrange for our CD to be returned to us and we would go home. But this did not happen, the director of this office called, began to claim that we were fools, we did not understand anything - our hard drive. I started looking for the serial number of the hard drive in order to somehow match it with the laptop and found that the date 2013 is on the hard drive, our laptop was purchased in 2010/2011 (we remember this for sure) and has never been in the wrong hands (this is another proof that they are trying to "cheat" us). On this issue, we were given the answer that our laptop is not new and all the seals on it are broken, although we know that this is not the case (it is not new, but no one has ever opened it). We once again asked to return our "broken" hard drive, because there is a lot of valuable and expensive information for us, but the service staff stood their ground, they do not know anything, there was a failure, this disk is ours, and if we go home, they will fix everything and restore all the information., we only need You'll have to pay for a new hard drive. Then we called the police, the Interior Ministry arrived, we were taken to the police station, where we wrote a statement. We still have someone else's practically non-working hard drive. We're waiting...
