We traveled with my husband by car from Obninsk to Minsk with stops in Bryansk, Gomel, Vitebsk and Smolensk. Honestly, I didn't have any special expectations, we just decided to go. But Belarus pleasantly surprised us! Very beautiful, well-maintained architecture, wide avenues, bright and cozy everywhere. I especially liked Minsk — it was calm, comfortable, and pleasing to the eye. The famous Gates were watched and filmed with great pleasure — they are impressive! We'll come back again

Two majestic towers built in the 1950s in the spirit of the Stalinist Empire. They have become one of the most recognizable landmarks of the city. One building has a captured German clock, the largest in Belarus, with a dial diameter of 3.5 m, and the other has a cast coat of arms of the Byelorussian SSR. The towers are also decorated with sculptures of a partisan, a collective farmer, an engineer and a soldier. In the period 1972-1975, they, along with some other decorative elements, were dismantled due to wear of the material (concrete) and the danger of collapse, but in 2004 they were restored and made of a lighter and more durable material (silumin). The towers are located at Kirova Street, 1 and 2. You can admire the buildings at the exit from the railway station. The gates of Minsk are a visiting card of the capital of Belarus. I recommend you to visit!
