WHAT AN INJUSTICE! We booked a hotel and surfing training in December 2019. Our trip was supposed to take place in June 2020. But this did not happen, due to the fact that the hotel and the island were quarantined (COVID-19). Since the beginning of 2020, I have been in correspondence with the hotel, paying attention to the fact that the virus is raging all over the world. I was told that everything was fine in Sri Lanka, but in March (if memory serves) I read the news that the island was being closed to tourists. Immediately after this news, I wrote to the hotel, they confirmed to me that everything was closing. There was a question of a refund ($394 deposit). Manager Julia initially corresponded by mail, but with each new letter, the response had to wait longer and longer, so the dialogue went to the Whatsapp messenger at the phone number listed on the goodstorysurf website (this number is still listed on the website). In our correspondence since 03/23/2020! Julia promised to return the entire amount, but a little later. Two weeks later, I wrote again, in response I received a message that in this situation the transfer takes a little longer than usual, I will be informed how it will be completed. Two weeks later, I was informed that they were waiting for a connection with the bank. A month later (May 7, 2020), I was told that everything would be returned by the new year. On New Year's Eve, I was still told about the difficult situation in the country and in the hotel. I want to note that we were sympathetic, behaved correctly in correspondence and waited for a refund. As far as I know, the first tourists arrived on the island in early July 2021. On December 15, 2021, I reminded Julia about myself, she said that there were a lot of tourists at the hotel again, promised to look at my voucher and return to the topic of refund. But these were her last messages, Julia did not get in touch anymore and did not respond to messages. On January 8, 2022, I found Veronica's phone number (as I understood it, the administrator). Veronica constantly checked the answer from the management and accounting department. Once a week I tried to remind myself, Veronica did not always respond (apparently there were a lot of things at the hotel). After a month of proceedings in the situation, I was told that Julia no longer works at the hotel (but the phone number is still the same on the main website) And they also said: "it's strange that she promised a refund, since our hotel does not refund the deposit." But the trip was canceled due to the fault of the hotel, the hotel is closed, the island is closed. Airlines around the world have refunded money for failed flights, hotels have refunded money, tour operators have refunded money. It is very strange, but Goodstorysurf believes that it can refuse a refund, arguing this is a cancellation policy, it seems to me this is a completely different case. And if Julia's employee promised a refund, and Veronica's employee reports that Julia is no longer working and all her promises are no longer valid, this at least makes you think about this surf camp. I think an organization should be responsible for its employees. I asked Veronica all these questions, a week has passed, and I received only one message in response: "I will answer you when the time is right." Another week has passed... I have to write this review, and I will try to bring this story to as many people as possible. Two years of correspondence with the hotel, promises, expectations and zero result. PS Indignation and resentment towards the hotel staff, namely Julia and Veronica, in this situation there must be a refund, since the hotel could not physically accommodate us, even if we were on the island at the moment. (according to the laws of Sri Lanka).
