Mount Gestola is one of the seven highest peaks of the Bezengian Wall. The height (4860 m) and the complexity of the Gestola allow the mountain to be included in the list of the 20 most difficult peaks of the Caucasus. The traverse of the Bezengi Wall (including the Gestola) has repeatedly received the "gold" of the USSR championships. Russian climbers ascend to the top in the programs of fulfilling the standards of the first category, masters of sports.
