It is located in the very center of the city. There are two temples on the territory of the monastery: the temple of St. Princess Olga and the Holy Spirit Temple. The monastery shop is the best and with the best choice in the city. A wide selection of balms, herbs, settings, fees. A selection of icons in different price categories. A wide selection of natural monastery cosmetics: creams, shampoos, masks, handmade soaps, natural deodorants. There is a very large selection of literature. The shop is open every day seven days a week. Temples can be visited not only during the service, but also at any convenient time before the closure of the monastery.

The monastery is one of the oldest Orthodox monasteries in the city, its foundation dates back to the end of the 14th century, around the 1380s. According to legend, the monastery was founded at the Church of the Descent of the Holy Spirit and is associated with the name of Princess Juliania (Martha as a monk), the second wife of Grand Duke Algirdas of Lithuania, who died in 1377. In the XV–XVI centuries, the monastery actively developed and was a significant spiritual center of Vitebsk. In 1597, after the Union of Brest, the monastery was temporarily transferred to the Uniates, but in 1633 it was returned to the Orthodox Church. In the 17th and 18th centuries, the monastery buildings repeatedly suffered from fires and military operations, including during the wars of the mid-17th century and the Northern War (1700-1721), but then they were restored. After Vitebsk joined the Russian Empire in 1772, the monastery continued to exist as an Orthodox monastery, but in the 19th century its territory and economy gradually declined. In 1922, during the period of the anti-religious policy of the Soviet government, the monastery was finally closed, and in the 1930s most of the historical buildings were dismantled or destroyed. The revival of the Holy Spirit Monastery began in 2001 by the decision of the Synod of the Belarusian Orthodox Church, when the women's monastic community was re-established. In 2012, a new church was consecrated in honor of the Descent of the Holy Spirit, which became the central structure of the modern monastery, and in subsequent years a temple was built in honor of the holy Equal-to-the-Apostles Princess Olga.

A holy place. When you leave, after taking holy water and breathing deeply, bowing to the images of the holy defenders, you realize how great it is that you are alive!
