Abkhazia. 🌳⛪️🌳☦🌳⛪️ The Ilora temple in honor of St. George the Victorious was erected on the site of one of the seven main Abkhazian sanctuaries of Elyr-nykha in the XI century. Father Sergius, a priest serving here, became famous for being credited with the ability to exorcise a demon from a person. The church contains fragments of the relics of St. George the Victorious, myrrh-streaming and even bleeding icons. Myrrh–streaming icons and bleeding ones are one of the distinctive wonders of the temple. Icons are not very often put on public display. It is believed that the faces of saints cry in this way. Now there are several myrrh-streaming icons and one bleeding icon in the Ilora temple, which are especially revered by believers. They are strictly forbidden to touch them with your hands, to kiss them, you can only touch the wick of an unlit candle.

It's an amazing place! Ancient myrrh-streaming icons, a spring where you can get water. The territory of the temple is quite small, but when you step on it, it feels like time stops. You are filled with goodness and peace. There is a huge willow tree at the entrance, which looks more than three hundred years old. A magical place, I recommend you to visit.

We've been planning to visit this Temple for a long time, but it didn't work out. And then we were returning from Gala to Sukhum, we decided to stop in Ochamchira, look at the beach and the sea. The navigator chose the road through Ilor. I'll clarify right away, the road is very bad on this side - it's better to go through Ochamchira. But the dream came true to visit the Church of St. George the Victorious. The temple itself is beautiful, interesting inside and out. The icons were very impressive. It was Friday - there were a lot of people, there were buses with excursions and so many cars were parked at the Temple. Maybe it's more peaceful on other days.
