I was surprised! I saw these towers in Katara Cultural Village. Two groups. One has two towers, the other three. What are they for, I thought? Are there any sticks sticking out in different directions? Obscure holes. Maybe for air movement, cooling something? The answer surprised me! Katara Pigeon Towers were used to breed pigeons for the following purposes: to obtain their meat, eggs (however, it was sometimes hungry in the desert) and manure, which was used as fertilizer. They did not forget about the mail either - they used pigeons as mail. In general, this is a huge dovecote. Rather, these structures are a monument to those old dovecotes, since I haven't seen a single pigeon here right now.

They look authentic. They seem to have something to do with Qatari traditions. Pigeons are seeping into the holes. They were probably needed for something. But for what purpose, I do not know.

The pigeons are sitting there, apparently they like it. They certainly look unusual for us.
