The colonnades are snow-white arches and columns in the neoclassical style and attract attention with their elegant and majestic appearance. The idea of building colonnades belongs to the Batumi doctor Ivan Mchedlidze, who saw a similar structure in the city of Sorrento during a trip to Italy. The project was prepared by architect Bogdan Kirakosyan. The colonnades appeared in 1934 and symbolize the gates at the entrance to the embankment. The memorable date of their construction is laid out and immortalized at the entrance to the composition. Initially, they played the role of sea gates and stood at the water's edge. Later, the entrance to the 6th of May park was decorated with the same columns. Batumi colonnades have become the hallmark of the city and one of its symbols.
