One of the most famous sights in the Gagra region of Abkhazia. The ancient Anastasia fortress is waiting to find time to visit here. Especially if you live nearby on vacation. It's interesting, informative, and the photos will be good.

Everything looks very interesting. We lived right in the department of the Abaat. The choice fell on him, because the interesting history of the hotel's formation, its own beach and there is a small pool. And we couldn't get into the fortress itself. We were told that it is closed to visitors in rainy weather. It's a pity. I had to go to Lake Rizza that day. And in the rain it's boring there and the lake is not blue at all, but ordinary, like our lakes. And there is a lot of garbage in it that is not cleaned. Which is very unfortunate

It's a strangely beautiful place. It is strange and surprising that there are no pointers where and how to go. There is a dangerous path leading to the wrong place, and some people wander without knowing where. Although the solution is simple - just fell with pointers . These are not abandoned ruins. If you guess where to go, you will get into the entrance, for which they charge money. Not expensive. It would be possible to ruin a couple of branches with pointers or manually do it. The castle itself is amazing. It is not possible to run through this maze in 15 minutes. This is a multi-storey maze, storing echoes of past splendor. Here, greenery and water have long been reliably regained their place. A very epic place to take photos. Just look carefully at your feet - the floor is also destroyed in places, it is dangerous. Those who take money have not even made the minimum flooring

A partially preserved architectural monument located in the Primorsky Park. Inside the church of the IV-VI centuries. (restoration of the beginning of the XX century), a local history museum and a souvenir shop.

A very beautiful place with an ancient history. The restaurant did not like either the interior or the overpriced menu. Prices for dishes are off the ceiling, probably because the chef is African American))) But the tea house is very even. Good menu, efficient and polite waiters. With almost a full landing, the girls served dinner in 15 minutes without fuss and unnecessary pathos.

An interesting object. It has an interesting history. It is striking in its grandeur. Passing by, you feel like you're in a historical setting.

Here we rather evaluate not the fortress itself, which in principle does not exist (a couple of stone one-story buildings and a restaurant), but the place of Abaat itself. Here it is luxurious, yes. Who has never been to Gagra, I would recommend staying here and walking around the area. There is also a magnificent view of the castle of the founder of the city. Plus, as a bonus, we got to the "fortress" at the moment when the bells were playing there, and so if in fact there are a couple of stone churches in this place and that's basically it. You can still have a delicious snack from the road if you start exploring the city from north to south. Or, on the contrary, they just arrived in Abaata.

Not far from the entrance to the old Gagra there is a fortress founded in the fifth century. The current church, built in the 10th century, and the cypress alley impressed on the territory. And on the side there is a cute atmospheric fountain with a bench. There is also a museum of weapons. If you cross the courtyard, you can go to the sea. On one side of the fortress is the Abaata Hotel with a restaurant, built in the German style. On the other hand, the park founded by the Prince of Oldenburg begins with rare plants brought, the park stretches along the embankment. There is a ruined Soviet-era store across the street from the fortress, there is a path up the mountain on the side, if you climb it, you can take a short way to the beautiful Prince of Oldenburg Castle. But now you can't get into the castle, it has been bought by someone and is guarded.

A very atmospheric place, worth a visit, you can get there on foot or by minibus from any part of Gagra, it is privately owned, money is charged for admission. Only the lower part of the castle is accessible, you can wander through the ruins, sit with a view of the sea. You can walk around the territory until six o'clock in the evening, then the gates are closed and the dogs are released.

Very picturesque. You will not get inside the fortress itself - it is a private territory. Restoration is actively underway, as far as can be judged from the outside - they work efficiently, with a soul. I really hope that over time they will launch there as well, as in a museum. The photos here come out amazing - against the background of the fortress, against the background of the sea. They launch into the ruins of the fireplace room - 4 floors, 48 rooms. It is very interesting, although, in my opinion, it is not too safe. Entrance is paid for adults, but not expensive at all. It's definitely worth a trip!

What can we say about the fortress now? For a long time I doubted whether we were still in the fortress or somewhere near it... In fact, only the outer walls and a couple of buildings adapted into a shop and cafe have been preserved from the Abaata. The grandeur of the structure is indicated only by the temple of St. Hypatius, located inside the walls of the fortress. Otherwise, the territory of the fortress is continued by the territory of the hotel of the same name "Abaata". In the end, maybe this is right, because back in the early 20th century, the Prince of Oldenburg ordered the destruction of part of the fortress wall and built a hotel on its territory...

The best hotel in Gagra! Its own large, green, enclosed area, its own beach. There is a cafe on the beach with cheerful music and delicious coffee. There are two restaurants on site:tea house with hookahs and European dishes. It's delicious everywhere! There is a mini zoo and a playground for children. Outdoor sports activities are organized for adults. Also on the territory there is an Orthodox functioning church of the 6th century. The bells are ringing in the morning! The only disadvantage for me is that dogs are allowed.. the owners walk them on the same lawns where small children play, of which there are a lot in the hotel. It's not very pleasant when your child can fall into the same puddle where they recently walked the dog.

If you like the old, look at the ruins. Then you go there. There is an underpass under the highway near Abaat's restaurant. It is better to use it if you need to cross the road. The fortress offers a beautiful view of the sea. A great place for keepsake photos. Admission and inspection are free.

We visited for the first time when we stopped in Abkhazia and had to have lunch. We, 13 adults and children, were separated by moving the tables, we chose the menu for 20 minutes, since the first time, but after 15 minutes salads appeared on our table, then hotter. The atmosphere is cozy, spacious, several different halls. We are delighted with the food, although everyone ordered everything different for themselves. After driving around Abkhazia for a few days, we purposefully returned to have lunch at this place. I will not say that I have tried food in many cafes and restaurants in Abkhazia, but I was very impressed here! We recommend it!
