We stayed at the Marabout Hotel from 17.10 to 27.10.25. We love to relax in Tunisia, but this time we were very unlucky. The sea and sand are beautiful as always, but that's where the positive ends. Huge families of vacationers are brought to this hotel every day by buses from Algeria under a social program. Therefore, there is a constant noise and uproar in the hotel from adults and children who do not know how to behave in any other way. There is a lot of food in the cafe, but it is designed for national tastes, very spicy, as we were told, the food is designed for the local population, many dishes are impossible to take in your mouth, but it disappears very quickly, as the local population quickly takes everything apart in huge portions, little gets out of fish and meat. They were even asked to leave their bags at the entrance, as they carried a lot of food in their bags. As for the pool, we have never ventured in there, as the local population swims in the pool in outerwear, and it is not very pleasant. Yes, we respect national traditions, but then respect our traditions as well - you don't have to send people from Russia to such hotels, or tell us and show us how it will be so that there are no unpleasant surprises. We're staying at this terrible hotel. I was here earlier in 2022, there was no such horror. I'm on vacation at the moment, and the room is very dirty. The floors are dirty, there's a lot of hair everywhere, the bed is stained and hairy, and the towels are gray (dirty-looking) and stained. The furniture is very "tired" and very dirty, the entire surface is sticky with dirt. The bathroom has not been washed for a very long time, the curtain on the bathroom is dirty, black (although it was white once), the toilet is dirty, the mirrors have not been washed for a long time. The inside of the closet is dirty and covered in dust in the corners. When asked to clean everything well, they were outraged at the reception, but we want a lot. When the manager was called, the situation changed. The room was cleaned, the floors were cleaned, towels were found white, and the bed linen was replaced with clean ones. You can live. Now about the dining room, this place cannot be called a restaurant at all. The dishes are all dirty, there are traces of food on the forks and boats, plates. The cups were washed very badly, and there were leftovers of food and coffee. The tables are in terrible condition, the napkins are dirty. THE SANITATION IS COMPLETE!!! The food is terrible, and the only things you can eat are scrambled eggs, boiled eggs, vegetables, herbs, and rolls. There were fruits today, but the grapes are spoiled, the watermelon is sluggish. If you come to the end of lunch, then there is nothing left to eat. There's nowhere to sit, as they don't have time to clean up. Lack of plates, cups and cutlery. A lot of broken dishes. Initially, I understood that I was going to 3*, but now it's not even a hotel, but some kind of eatery. One of the advantages: a nice big beach with clean, white sand. Beautiful sea. There are two pools, there is a pool for children. The territory is not large, but it is beautiful and well maintained. Beautiful fountains and palm trees. There is a small water park. BUT!!! I don't advise anyone to come here, at least not now. Maybe the hotel management will change its concept and improve the quality of work and service for tourists.

We had a rest from 06.06.2025 to 11.06.2025 . The food is 5 - plus , I did not expect such a choice , considering that it is 3 stars . The staff is 100 points , everyone is friendly ,attentive . The territory is huge , pools , palm trees and bright sun, the sea is two steps away from the hotel .There are disadvantages , but we did not pay attention to them, since we came to relax, not to be nervous .One of them is the lack of a hair dryer, the air conditioner did not work, but it did not bother us, it was fresh in the evening and sanitation was 50/50 in terms of dishes.In a word, we'll be back there again. 🙏

Now about the cons: we arrived at the hotel at 6 a.m. (check-in at 2 p.m.), we were told that there were no places, even for money, and we were told to come to 10, then to 11, and then an hour later, we came to 13.00, the administrator directly said: "you need standard or with an additional payment" (an additional payment to us they voiced it from $ 50), they chose it without extra charges, it's a horror, not rooms. We looked at 3 rooms (cockroaches, not cleaned rooms, no refrigerator, no balcony) and only with the help of a guide (Lyubov) they gave us a normal room in which it was not scary to enter and it was pleasant to stay. Take alcohol with you, they pour swill in the bar that is impossible to drink. The beach is dirty, they try to clean up, but unfortunately they don't have time, a lot of cigarette butts, bottle caps. Take a towel for the beach with you, as there is none there. The rooms are not cleaned, you have to run and ask for clean towels and beg to clean the room.

I had a rest from October 9 to 18, the hotel justifies 3 stars, I put 5 for food, especially for pastries. Beautiful light sand on the beach, but littered with plastic. If the windows of the room face the stage and the restaurant, there is very loud music in the evening. On the right and on the left are closed hotels - there are many of them in Sousse and throughout Tunisia. You can take a taxi to the center for 10 dinars, or walk a couple of kilometers. There are a couple of supermarkets within walking distance. I liked it, it was warm and cozy, despite the old furniture and plumbing (don't expect five stars from three).

But there are no porridges and soups, as expected, in the yugas. All-inclusive drinks for teetotallers and children are cola and sprite only. There are no other goodies (cocktails, ice cream). Only for a fee. There are slides on the territory of the hotel, which are an aquapark. Where the locals come from, so it's mostly a stopover. Although my children were very pleased with the pools and slides. I personally like it. I liked the calm sea and the temperature and the beach (wide sandy strip). But we got into the jellyfish season and periodically there was a strong wind that washed debris (algae, etc.) to the shore.I recommend visiting the beach in the early hours, as the sea is often calm, warm and sparsely populated. Take a lifesaver from the jellyfish, panthenol-no problem. Overall, a very comfortable climate.I liked Tunis, but I will choose the hotel more carefully next time.

A normal hotel, I thought it would be worse. You can check in early in the morning, but be prepared to pay from $30 to $50 for a "normal" room. Yes, the furniture is tired, but it's clean and the air conditioner is working. There is no hair dryer or iron in the hotel. There are only towels and soap in the bathroom, take the rest with you. There are no beach towels, the safe is only at the reception for a fee. There is a TV, but there was only one Russian channel (8). We cleaned every day, a bottle of water (1.5 liters) for two people in the room every day. I was satisfied with the food, I never went hungry. Delicious beef, rice, normal potatoes, cakes, pizza. For breakfast, pancakes, scrambled eggs, rolls, etc. Tea and coffee only in the morning. The only fruits are grapes and watermelon/melon. The vegetables were always kind of dry. The bar has normal rum, beer and wine are terrible, although many drank and ok. There were always plenty of sun beds on the beach, at any time. In mid-August, there were practically no jellyfish, we saw a couple of big ones on the bottom and small ones swimming after a strong wind (brought by waves), they sting like nettles, so it's tolerable. In 9 days, 5 times were deleted in total. Sand with small debris in the form of plastic caps and swags. There are many souvenir shops near the hotel, and the French supermarket Monoprix is not far away.

The big drawback is that there are few locals. Their arrogance makes them laugh! Everyone in the queue except them. They are perfectly visible by the bracelet of a different color on the hands. Thanks to the lifeguards at the water park, they really work. Today I saw how the children did not obey and maybe something happened, the lifeguard was there instantly . There are no beach towels. Either you need to take it with you, or buy it there. It costs 250 rubles with our money. The city center is 35 minutes away at a leisurely pace. Come, you won't regret it.(However, maybe in the summer everything is not so rosy because of the large number of vacationers? But I think it shouldn't spoil the overall impression.) There are elevators in both buildings. The rooms are not new, but they are quite decent (we lived in the old building, but the new ones are exactly the same). The air conditioner was working, although the description says that it has been turned off since September. There was always hot water. Cleaning and changing of towels every day. The territory is small, but it accommodates so much: a spa, three outdoor pools with fountains, an indoor pool. a water park (not just slides, there are 6 of them), bars are free and paid. Food: any meat except pork, side dishes-vegetables, potatoes, rice, pasta. Fruits-watermelons, melons, apples, grapes, peaches. The beach is large, there are many sun beds. The entrance to the sea is flat. Merchants do not approach the sun beds. They keep an eye on it-they walk along the shore. I was in Sousse a few years ago at a nearby 4-star hotel, where the pool is 6 meters in diameter and indoor. We talked to the guests, people have been staying at this hotel for 5-7 years. I think that says something.

I went and made arrangements for an early check-in to a room with a good view. Previously, we read everywhere that they practice this for an additional fee. They charged us $70. I agreed and we got the keys. The view was really amazing. The room is quite spacious, of course, there is something to find fault with in small things, including the air conditioner, which did not work at all. But we resigned ourselves and did nothing. 1.5 liters of water were brought every day. Employees do everything reluctantly and are in no hurry to get anywhere. But for 5-10 dinars you become their friend and you need to strengthen this friendship constantly) they do the job better, not the way they want to reluctantly. A huge number of Algerians vacationing. Just hundreds, all wrapped up. In national costumes. + niqabs and burqas. And their children)) get ready to meet them everywhere. Everyone walks leisurely, but at the same time in the dining room I'll call it that (since it's definitely not a restaurant) you won't have time to look around, and there are already 3 women standing in front of you from Algeria, although before that you were the first to take something and put it on your plate, plates, glasses are washed (rinsed) and that's it!! A separate story about how and how much these people from Algeria eat. I'm sorry, they eat like horses or better say pigs. There are a million plates on the table , they are talking loudly . Their children are crying, and they keep bringing plates. It's like they're having a feast. Perhaps they can't afford this in their own country, which is why the situation is like this. I also want to mention the shit on the tables after they eat. It's easier to throw out the table and buy a new one. I've never seen anything like this anywhere, and I couldn't even imagine that adults, while on vacation (in another country, but here they travel 4-6 hours), could behave like this. And most of them are. My wife and I tried to eat quickly and get out of the dining room so as not to be in such an unpleasant environment. We cleaned every day relatively normally, of course, there's nothing to say. I gave them a chocolate bar from Russia and a couple of dinars. At the check-out, he asked for a bottle of water at the reception, and was refused everywhere in the bar and restaurant. They feel sorry for the bottle of water. The price and quality do not match. We went once and never set foot here again, or the price should be 2 times lower than 165 thousand for 8 days for two and with such conditions.
